ProfileWe have about 170 permanently employed and about 100 part-time staff members, including professors and teaching assistants. The number of active students is 3700. Every year, we enroll 500 new students to the electrical engineering programs and about 60 students to our new program in software engineering.
The decision made by the School of Electrical Engineering was to go for 4+1+3 scheme, so our new bachelor studies last 4 years, including up to 40 courses and the final thesis. Master studies last one year and include 5 courses and the master thesis. Doctoral studies are composed of 6 to 9 courses and the doctoral thesis.
Almost all courses were updated and reorganized by splitting huge and difficult two-semester courses in two. A part of contents from these subjects was moved in specific small courses called practices, which were made elective. We also intro-duced some other courses like foreign languages, computer skills, humanities etc. In this way, it was made possible for each student to choose the area in which he wants to broaden his knowledge, or to take some other courses relevant for his soft skills.
The emphasis was put on lab exercises, home works, projects, computer-based learning and other forms of modern education, which improved the quality of the teaching process and resulted in the increased number of students interested for our School.

Faculty of Organizational Sciences (FOS) is the leading faculty for management and information systems in Serbia. FOS was founded in 1969, initiated by more than 200 organizations with the aim of strengthening the economy with valu-able knowledge in organization, management and information systems. Within the FOS’ Institute for Information Systems, one center and six laboratories perform research and education activities in the fields of information systems and software development methodologies, business process modeling, advanced soft-ware architectures, semantic enterprise application integration and interoperabil-ity, information systems development, information retrieval and integration on the Web, document and workflow management systems, and databases.
FOS faculty especially pride themselves for having developed advanced software systems such as ARTIST, a graphical CASE tool for process and data modeling, and ADMIS, a component-based workflow & document management system for auto-mation of administrative processes. ADMIS includes Electronic Front Office (EFO) and Dictionary of Information Resources of Serbian Government (DIRS). EFO sup-ports use of, government services by providing a fundamental component on which to base architecture of the e-Government systems.
DIRS will help describe all information resources of Serbian Government and at different levels of abstractions. Using Model Driven Architecture approaches, DIRS enables representation of information about specific government resources: organi-zational components and their services, databases, document types, software com-ponents, etc. All these resources are described using formally defined meta-models. Data exchange between DIRS repository and its users are based on XML Schema messages based on the same meta-models. In this way, DIRS is an enabler of interop-erability among heterogeneous components of the e-Government system.
In addition to new systems development, FOS faculty has lead projects that ad-dressed all phases of complex information systems life cycle. FOS faculty has been involved as chief architects for large e-Government and e-Business information sys-tems, in information systems planning for the Republic of Serbia government, and in projects for pharmaceutical, petrochemical, banking, and steel industries in Serbia. Currently, USA National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and FOS work together to explore semantic technologies for next generation enterprise applica-tion standards and integration approaches.
