May is the month for First Holy Communions, even under a pandemic. It is so inspiring seeing our children receive Jesus for the very first time, with such love and desire. After two years of preparation they not only heard about Jesus, they have discerned His voice calling them to come to Him and to receive Him. Recall how Jesus told the apostles to “Let the little children come unto Him.” That’s precisely what parents do, taking the promise they made at their child’s baptism seri-ously, to raise their child in the faith, bringing them to Jesus and Jesus to them in the sacra-ments.
St. John Paul II said that when we receive the Eucharist we are like Mary receiving Jesus into her womb at the moment of the Annunciation by the Archangel Gabriel! Receiving the Sacred Host, we truly enter into a Holy Communion with our Lord and with His Body, our brothers and sisters in the Church. Those that eat His Body and drink His Blood literally have eternal LIFE within them. So, Holy Communion is a foretaste of heaven. The Bread of Life “come down from heaven for the life of the world” is truly the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Himself—the same Jesus born of Mary, the same who died on the Cross for us, the same who rose from the dead to give us new life. It’s amazing to contemplate the fact that, in the Holy Eucharist, we receive the risen, glorified body of Jesus Christ. And so, we should always be prepared to receive Him worthily, that is, always fully conscious of Who it is we are receiving. Of course, this means avoiding sin, confessing regularly and attending Mass every Sunday in obedience to the third commandment. Hopefully, when the pandemic finally subsides and all is safe, the bishops will make Mass attendance obligatory once again. As helpful as the livestream Masses have been, it is not the same as being present in the church. God does not need our presence but throughout the past months of the pandemic with all the various restrictions, we have certainly become aware how much we need His Presence, because without Him we “can do nothing.” During the COVID-19 crisis we were forced to distance ourselves from Christ in the Mass and could not receive Him like before. Again, hopefully, this painful experience has made us appreciate Jesus in the Eucharist even more, making us long and hunger to receive Him each week. Once the Sunday Mass obligation is reinstated, then purposefully missing Mass can be considered a serious sin which must be confessed before receiving Communion again.
Preparing ourselves on Sunday morning is very important, as we are about to encounter the most important Person in the world. So we dress appropriately, fasting for a full hour be-forehand in order to purify our bodies and spirits. We arrive at Church a few minutes early to recollect our minds for prayer, avoiding idle chatter with others so they too can pray peaceful-ly. We turn off our cell phones, giving the worship of God our full attention. This, of course, “is right and just”, as we say in the Mass. Then after receiving Jesus, we never neglect thank-ing Him, lest our hearts grow cold through ingratitude. And we resist the temptation to leave Mass before the final blessing, knowing that God’s blessing is powerful and sustains us throughout the week. Oh, that we would all receive Jesus in Holy Communion like children—as if it were our first or last time! Concluding this month of May, let us ask Mary, our dearest Mother, to intercede for us with her Son.

The Trinity is the central mystery of our faith. We believe that God is one, yet three: total unity and rich diversity. God is not a monolith, but a dynamic community of persons, a perfect, loving harmony of three. And the liturgy is the work of the
Trinity. We begin all our liturgical celebra-tions with the sign of the cross, a reminder of our Trinitarian baptism, and the simplest of all professions of our faith. We believe that God is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and we gather in the name of this triune
God. Throughout the Mass, we address our prayers to God the Father, through Christ our Lord, in the Spirit’s power. And the
Father hears our prayer, transforming bread and wine into the Body and Blood of his
Son by the Holy Spirit. The Church is “the sacrament of trinitarian commun-ion” (Sacramentum Caritatis, 16). It is
the Trinity who holds us together as well. In the words of Saint Cyprian, we are “a people made one by the unity of
the Father, the Son and the Holy Spir-it” (quoted in Sacramentum Caritatis, 16).
Mayo es el mes de las Primeras Comuniones, incluso bajo una pandemia. Es muy inspirador ver a nuestros niños recibir a Jesús por primera vez, con tanto amor y deseo. Después de dos años de preparación, no solo escucharon acerca de Jesús, sino que han
discernido Su voz llamándolo para recibirlo. Recuerden cuando Jesús les dijo a los apóstoles: “Dejen que los niños vengan a mí”. Eso es preci-samente lo que hacen los padres, tomando en serio la promesa que hicieron en el bautismo de sus hijos, de criar a sus hijos en la fe, llevándolos a Jesús y a Jesús en los sacramentos.
San Juan Pablo II dijo que cuando recibimos la Eucaristía somos como María recibiendo a Jesús en su vientre en el momento de la Anuncia-ción del Arcángel Gabriel. Recibiendo la Sagrada Hostia, realmente entramos en una Sagrada Co-munión con nuestro Señor y con Su Cuerpo, nuestros hermanos en la Iglesia. Aquellos que comen Su Cuerpo y beben Su Sangre literalmente tienen VIDA eterna dentro de ellos. Entonces, la Sagrada Comunión es un anticipo del cielo. El Pan de Vida “bajado del cielo por la vida del mundo” es verdaderamente el Cuerpo, la Sangre, el Alma y la Divinidad de Jesús mismo, el mismo Jesús nacido de María, el mismo que murió en la Cruz por nosotros, el mismo que resucitó de entre los muertos para darnos nueva vida. Es asombroso contemplar el hecho de que, en la Sagrada Euca-ristía, recibimos el cuerpo resucitado y glorificado de Jesucristo. Por eso, siempre debemos estar preparados para Recibirlo Dignamente, es decir, siempre plenamente conscientes de a quién estamos recibiendo. Por supuesto, esto significa evitar el pecado, confesarse regularmente y asistir a misa todos los domingos en obediencia al tercer mandamiento. Con suerte, cuando la pandemia finalmente disminuya y todo esté a salvo, los Obispos harán que la asistencia a misa sea obliga-toria una vez más. Por muy útiles que hayan sido las misas en vivo, no es lo mismo que estar presente en la iglesia. Dios no necesita nuestra presencia, pero a lo largo de los últimos meses de la pandemia con todas las diversas restricciones,
ciertamente nos hemos dado cuenta de cuánto necesitamos Su Presencia, porque sin El "no podemos hacer nada". Durante la crisis del CO-VID-19 nos vimos obligados a distanciarnos de Cristo en la Misa y no pudimos recibirlo como antes. Una vez más, con suerte, esta dolorosa experiencia nos ha hecho apreciar aún más a Jesús en la Eucaristía, haciéndonos anhelar y tener hambre de recibirlo cada semana. Una vez que se restablezca la obligación de la misa domi-nical, faltar intencionalmente a la misa puede considerarse un pecado grave que debe confesarse antes de recibir la Comunión nuevamente.
Prepararnos el domingo por la mañana es muy importante, ya que estamos a punto de encontrarnos con la Persona más importante del mundo. Por eso nos vestimos apropiadamente, ayunando una hora entera antes para purificar nuestro cuerpo y espíritu. Llegamos a la Iglesia unos minutos antes para recordar nuestras mentes para la oración, evitando la charla ociosa con los demás para que ellos también puedan orar en paz. Apagamos nuestros teléfonos celulares, dando toda nuestra atención a la adoración de Dios. Esto, por supuesto, “es correcto y justo”, como deci-mos en la Misa. Luego, después de recibir a Jesús, nunca dejamos de agradecerle, no sea que nuestro corazón se enfríe por la ingratitud. Y resistimos la tentación de dejar la Misa antes de la bendición final, sabiendo que la bendición de Dios es pode-rosa y nos sostiene durante toda la semana. ¡Oh, que todos recibiéramos a Jesús en la Sagrada Comunión como niños, como si fuera nuestra primera o última vez! Concluyendo este mes de mayo, pidamos a María, nuestra Madre queridísi-ma, que interceda por nosotros ante su Hijo.

Criar niños amables es un trabajo duro, pero fundamental para su éxito como adultos católicos fuertes. Los padres pueden modelar el cuidado y la bondad en el hogar, haciendo obras de caridad, haciendo voluntariado, ayudando a amigos y a familiares. Permita que sus hijos participen en sus esfuerzos y anímelos a realizar sus propios actos de bondad. Reconozca y elogie los actos de bondad de sus hijos cuando ocurran, pero sin resaltarla como un comportamiento “extra especial”. Hacer que la bondad sea parte de su vida familiar diaria ayudará a sus hijos a desarrollar hábitos que crecerán con el tiempo. Reflexión en la solemnidad de la Santísima Trinidad.
Con la fiesta del envío del Espíritu Santo el domingo pasado culminaba el tiempo Pascual. Ya tenemos la fuerza que Dios nos ha regala gratuita-mente para poder dar testimonio con nuestra vida. Dios no es distante, no se desentiende. Dios es comunidad de amor. Para entender esto, basta con mirar la imagen de la Santísima Trinidad. Como dice el Papa Francisco, “No es el producto de razonamientos humanos, es el rostro con el que Dios se ha revelado a sí mismo, no desde lo alto de un trono, sino caminando con la humanidad.” Una persona que ama a los demás por la alegría misma de amar es reflejo de la Santísima Trinidad. El amor verdadero es ilimitado, pero sabe limitarse para salir al encuentro del otro, para ser libre y respetar la libertad del otro. Acojamos esta solemnidad con gratitud y confianza.
La venida del Espíritu Santo como continuador de la obra maravillosa de Jesús. Jesús nos muestra quién es el Padre, y quién es el Espíritu. Apren-damos a ver todo desde Dios, con los ojos de Dios. Es cuestión de ser dóciles al Espíritu Santo, al Espíritu de la verdad. Él nos llevará hasta la verdad plena y nos ayudará a ver los signos de los tiempos, a comprender los acontecimientos de nuestra vida… No nos dejemos llevar por la pereza o el miedo. Tenemos a Cristo, y nos ha hecho Hijos de Dios y nos ha regalado la fuerza del Espíritu, seamos conscientes del tesoro que tenemos en nuestras manos. Seamos agradecidos por el Don gratuito.
El Misterio de la Trinidad es el misterio central de la vida Cristiana. Nos muestra a un Dios que es familia, que somos sus hijos. Un Dios amor que nos hace partícipe de las tres divinas personas. Que Dios es comunión; Él nos reúne en torno a la Mesa, se nos hace único alimento que nos da la verdadera Vida. Un alimento Trinitarios donde brota el amor y se nos revela en el amor. Un amor que se convierte en servicio con y para los demás. Jesús, es el mejor comunicador de la Trinidad.
Que María, madre de la Trinidad, nos ayude a ser partícipe de esa comu-nión, que es reflejo auténtico de AMOR.
Acojamos con gozo un recuerdo este domingo por tantos religiosos y religiosas que son contemplativos. Para que la Santísima Trinidad les vaya iluminando en la oración, fortaleciendo en su misión, y siendo comunión con nosotros a través de la oración constante.
¡Bendita sea, ahora y por siempre, y por todos los siglos, la Santa y Única Trinidad, que ha creado y gobierna todas las cosas!

En lo alto de un monte de Galilea se reunieron los once discípulos fieles por indicación de Jesús, para la despedida. Allí Jesús les habla de su poder divino: “Todo poder se me ha dado en la tierra”. Y a continua-ción les ordeno salir por todo el mundo, hacer discípu-los de todas las gentes y bautizarlas en el nombre del Padre, y del Hijo y del Espíritu Santo. En las palabras del Salvador viene la revelación de un gran misterio: el de la Santísima Trinidad. El misterio de un solo Dios y tres personas distintas es el misterio más profundo de nuestra fe; pero misterio que los discípulos aceptaron por la revelación del Señor y que nos transmitieron desde el principio, bautizando en esa misma fe a todos los nuevos cristianos que en el mundo han existido.
Ya los apóstoles habían recibido en diversas ocasio-nes una revelación parcial de este misterio. Jesús les había dicho: “Quien me ve a mí, ve al Padre, porque el Padre y yo somos una misma cosa. Yo les enviaré desde el Padre el Espíritu Santo”. Padre, Hijo y Espíri-tu Santo; personas distintas, pero un solo Dios verda-dero, con una sola naturaleza. Para nosotros los creyentes, la Santísima Trinidad de Dios, revelada por Jesús y enseñada por los apóstoles, es y será siempre un misterio. Conviene, por lo tanto, que recordemos que cosa es un misterio: Un misterio es una verdad que está sobre nuestra razón, no en contra de ella. Hay misterios en la naturaleza. ¿Cuál es la esencia de esa fuerza que llamamos electricidad, magnetismo y otras por el estilo? Hay en esas cosas, al parecer comunes, muchos misterios, pero nosotros no esperamos saber todo para aprovecharnos de ellas en la vida práctica.
De igual manera, a quien está evangelizando le re-sultan familiares las figuras de Dios Padre, Creador del mundo, siempre bueno y maravilloso; de Dios Hijo, Palabra del Padre, que se hizo hombre para salvarnos, con el nombre humano de Jesús; y de Dios
Espíritu Santo, el santificador de las almas, que nos llena continuamente con sus dones. Continuamente recordamos este misterio al hacer la señal de la cruz. Todo lo hacemos en el nombre de Dios trino. La misa comienza con el saludo trinitario que leemos hoy en la carta de San Pablo: “La gracia de Nuestro Señor Jesucristo, el amor del Padre y la comunión del Espíritu Santo, este con ustedes.” Dios es gracia, amor y comunión; esto es lo que deseamos tener entre nosotros. Somos imagen de Dios, de la Trinidad, de la familia de Dios, en cuanto individuos y en cuanto iglesia. Jesús oró para que todos fuéramos UNO como EL y el Padre son UNO. La unidad de Dios es el modelo para nosotros.
En el prefacio de la misa de hoy, la iglesia habla de la fe en la Trinidad en términos dela experiencia o vivencia de Dios de la comunidad cristiana: creemos lo mismo, sin diferencia ni distinción, sobre las tres Personas divinas. Adoramos a tres personas distintas, en la unidad de un solo ser, e iguales en su majestad. Por eso creemos que nuestra vocación nos llama a ser personas distintas, a vivir unidos, a respetarnos mutua-mente por reconocer la igualdad y sacralidad a la que nos ha elevado el Señor en su Hijo. Dejemos a los demás que sea diferentes, amémoslos y respetémoslos.
Reflexión
Hoy día Jesús ordena a los apóstoles que vayan por el mundo entero bautizando a la gente en el nombre de Dios Trino, para hacer del mundo una sola familia. Al final nos dice que El estará siempre con nosotros has-ta el final. En estos momentos estamos disfrutando de la compañía del Señor y de nuestra mutua compañía al compartir todos de la misma eucaristía. Por Cristo, con El y en El, a ti Dios Padre Omnipo-tente en la unidad del Espíritu Santo, todo honor y toda gloria por los siglos de los siglos.
