ABOUT THE BOOK

Despite winning the Battle of Merlport there has been little celebration. Too many Avalonians lost their lives, too many were injured. However, the bond between those with magic and those without has grown considerably since defeating the marauding Trajaens.

The Avalonians have now formed a friendship with neighbouring Twydell, a country which once shunned magical beings. A marriage is to take place between Princess Jeanette of Twydell and Prince Steven of Kerner. All the leaders of Avalon have been invited to the wedding, but Esmerelda, Queen of the Witches, is reluctant to accept the invitation. News has reached Avalon that wizards are held in Kernan prisons and Esmerelda is understandably angry and wants to take action. Merlin tries to pacify Esmerelda and find a solution which will avoid more bloodshed.

Secrets are revealed in The Exchange of Rings, the third book in the Tales of Avalon series, but there are others secrets which must remain just so.

Follow the adventures – and romances – of Merlin and Helen-Joy, King Arthur, Prince Edward and Daisy, Princess Rosalie and Prince Derrick, Queen Esmerelda, and many more.

If you like stories about magical beings, you will enjoy reading The Exchange of Rings.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

I am proud to use my mother's birth name as a pseudonym when writing the Tales of Avalon series. The real Daisy Bourne was unofficially adopted at six years old and her name changed. In later life, when she realised the reasons for her change in identity, she was understandably resentful.

In March 1956, Mum was in a bedroom of our very old, damp house. I was running up and down the staircase, pushing pieces of heather under the bedroom door. The midwife dutifully gave the heather to Mum. When my little sister was born, Mum called her Heather. She was Daisy Bourne's sixth child. In the second book in the series, I introduced the characters Heather Bramble and Helen-Joy the soothsayer.

The real and fictitious Heathers have several similarities. Both were rebellious and, whilst still teenagers, left their remote countryside homes to seek adventure and romance. Like Heather Bramble, my sister loved gardens and was very knowledgeable about plants. However, unlike the character in the book, my late sister had no interest whatsoever in witchcraft.

Daisy Bourne's seventh child is a well-known clairvoyant and Tarot reader named Joy. There are some similarities between my youngest sister and the fictional Helen-Joy the soothsayer.

ABOUT THE BOOK

In this the second book in the Tales of Avalon series, Merlin takes a trip to the neighbouring country of Twydell. As he flies across the countryside on his broomstick, he is puzzled to see a long line of people leaving the capital of Dalton and heading towards the outlying villages. Entire families are leaving the capital. ey look ragged and downcast and appear to be taking their possessions with them. As he approaches Dalton, Merlin is shocked to see billowing smoke, and realises that large parts of the city have been destroyed by fire.

e wizard learns that the devastation has been caused by a pair of dragons which have lived near the city for many years without any problem. King Frederrick is bewildered as to why the dragons should suddenly seek to attack the Twydellers for no apparent reason.

Merlin agrees to help the Twydellers, and he sets off on an unexpected adventure which brings him in contact with dragons and other strange creatures. He also renews his friendship with an old friend and is delighted to meet new ones.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Daisy Bourne was born in 1917. She was unofficially adopted by a farmer and his wife, and her name was changed when she was very young. I am very proud to use my mother's birth name as a pseudonym when writing the Tales of Avalon series.

Later in life, my mum again took up the rural lifestyle she had known as a child. As a child, I too enjoyed spending time in the fields with our cows, pigs, goats, and chicken.

One of Mum's talents was to read tea leaves and playing cards. People often used to knock at the door and ask for a reading. We used to be fascinated by the way she articulated what she saw in the cards and the teacups.

Mum's seventh child was a girl whom she named Helen Joyce (we know her as Joy). Joy inherited some of Mum's talents and is an internationally known clairvoyant and tarot card reader. In this second book in the Tales of Avalon series, I introduce Helen-Joy, the soothsayer, and yes, this character is based on my little sister.

ABOUT THE BOOK

It is three days until Christmas. As the clock ticks slower than usual, Gracie, Natalie, and Ella wonder if Santa will ever arrive. Thankfully Bernard, the family’s beagle, is about to come to the rescue.

Prompted by their mother, the girls’ father helps pass the time by weaving a captivating tale of Bernard and how he played an important role in helping during the very first Christmas. As Bernard’s journey takes him toward a bright star, he must use his special beagle hunting skills to lead the shepherds to baby Jesus. But will they find Him in time?

In this inspirational children’s tale, three little girls learn the fictionalized story of their family beagle’s journey as he attempts to help the shepherds during the first Christmas.

About the AuthorCarolee Russell was born and raised in and near Baltimore, Maryland. Painfully shy throughout her childhood and school years, she slowly began to discover her self-worth in her senior year of high school. She has a talent for art and crafts, which she has shared freely whenever an occasion has had a need for it, whether it be drawing paper-doll clothes for the neighborhood children, designing posters and flyers for office social functions, teaching calligraphy, or creating three-dimensional animals, half an ocean liner, carousel horses, and a Cinderella coach for country-club social functions. Her creative abilities are only constrained by her imagination. But it was the insistence of her granddaughters, Maureen and Mia, for stories that opened up that field to her. Ms. Russell has also published “In his time” and “Murder in the Haunted House,” a murder mystery and party play.
