Welcome to The Bookwanderers’ Quiz! Meet Anna James and Adam Collier, Anna is the author of the Pages & Co series featuring Tilly and the Bookwanderers and Adam is an actor who’s been in several plays based on children’s books including The Railway Children and Alice’s Adventures Underground. ‘Together we had the most fun doing a family book quiz at the festival last year and this year we have made up a new one for you to run at home or at school. The quiz is made up of 5 rounds of 5 questions worth 5 points plus a bonus picture round worth 10 points! We hope you enjoy it. Anna is the author of the Pages & Co series featuring Tilly and the Bookwanderers and Adam is an actor who’s been in several plays based on children’s books including The Railway Children and Alice’s Adventures Underground.

Round 3: Festival AuthorsThis round is inspired by the brilliant children’s authors doing events for the festival this year, so if you’re stuck, take a look at which authors are featured on the festival programme! These questions are worth one point each!

1. Which classic children’s novel is Carrie Hope Fletcher’s first children’s book, Into the Spotlight, based on? You only need the title of the book for the point, not the author!

2. Liz Pichon is the author of the brilliantly popular Tom Gates series but do you know the name of her brand new series?

3. Jasbinder Bilan won the Costa Children’s Prize this year for her debut novel, what is its title?

4. MG Leonard, the author of Beetle Boy, has a new series out that she’s written with Sam Sedgman - do you know what form of transport it’s all about?

5. A new Alex Rider adventure was published earlier this year - how many books does that mean there now are in the series by Anthony Horowitz? (Note: This doesn’t include any of the short stories or bonus material!)

Round 4: BookwanderingIn Anna’s series, Pages & Co, her main characters - Tilly and Oskar - are bookwanderers, which means they can travel inside their favourite stories. These questions are inspired by some of the real-life books which Tilly and Oskar travel inside and the characters they meet. Each answer is worth one point!

1. Which country is Anne of Green Gables set in?

2. What is the name of the pirate pretended to be a ship’s cook in Treasure Island?

3. In the Shakespeare play A Midsummer Night’s Dream, a character called Bottom has his head temporarily turned into the head of which animal?

4. Which street does Sherlock Holmes live on?

5. What is the name of the headteacher of the school that Sara Crewe is sent to in A Little Princess?

Round 5: Alice in Wonderland RiddlesIn Lewis Carroll’s famous books, Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass, Alice meets all kinds of weird and wonderful characters. Can you work out who these five are from the riddles? Each right answer is worth one point!

1. On the top of his head Is something unusual, He doesn’t like Time But the feeling is mutual.

2. Her jam and her roses Must always be red, But careful around her To keep hold of your head.

3. They fight and they argue And greet with a stare, But they’re always together They come as a pair.
