Both Corpus Christi and St. Ladislas have reached their goals set by this year’s Bishop’s Annual Appeal. As of June 28, Corpus Christi has surpassed their goal of $12,094 with a pledge of $14,901 and St. Ladislas has surpassed their goal of $19,612 with a pledge of $20,471.51. Thank you to all those families that have made a gift or a pledge. One aspect of a successful BAA hinges on the number of parishioners that give. Our parishes are still hoping for 100% participation. If you have not made your gift to this year's appeal, please consider doing so in the days ahead. Any amount raised over our goal goes back to the parish. When reading the gospel this weekend, it's shocking to see two of Jesus’ disciples pray for a Samaritan village to be destroyed!
Why? The Jewish people and the Samaritans were always at odds and mistreated each other, even when they went to each other’s towns! Jesus (a Jew), decided to pass through Samaritan land and ask for hospitality!
Of course, Jesus was denied, and the disciples revolted at how they treated Jesus. But Jesus was disappointed at His disciples for reacting and for Him, He was focused on Jerusalem, where He would be nailed on a cross so that all may reconcile and be saved (Jew, Samaritan, and Gentile).
We should practice love at all times, but practice a Christian love that seeks the greatest good of both friend and foe! Jesus asks all of us to follow Him, and we must listen to the grace He gives us to put everything aside for Him!
Let us continue to practice Christian love and give everything we have to follow Christ until the end!
• Pray for Pope Francis and those who lead the Church, especially Bishop Brennan.
• Pray for those affected by natural disasters and acts of violence (Middle East, India, and the Midwest).
• A HUGE THANK-YOU to those who participated and made the Feast of Corpus Christi a success, especially Fr. Don Hope as the celebrant! We couldn’t have asked for a better day adoring Our Lord!
• Parish Council met last Tuesday; details are in the bulletin.
• The Lay Missionaries are having Vacation Bible School, July 8-12; details are in the bulletin.
• The Hungarian Festival is coming up on July 20th where we co-sponsor this event with the Hungarian Cultural Association! Half the proceeds goes to both parishes! We are in need of volunteers starting Wednesday, July 10; sign-up sheets are at both parishes- please help in whatever way you can!
• On behalf of the parish staff, may you have a Happy Fourth of July! May we continue to pray for those who have served and continue to give their lives for our freedom! Since it is the Fourth, there will be Mass on the 4th at 9:00 a.m. at Corpus Christi and the office is closed.

¡Al leer el Evangelio este fin de semana, es impactante ver a dos de los discípulos de Jesús orar para que se destruya una aldea samaritana!
¿Por qué? ¡El pueblo judío y los samaritanos siempre estaban en desacuerdo y se maltrataban entre sí, incluso cuando iban a sus pueblos! ¡Jesús (un judío), decidió pasar por tierra samaritana y pedir hospitalidad!
Por supuesto, a Jesús se le negó, y los discípulos se rebelaron ante la forma en que trataron a Jesús. Pero Jesús estaba decepcionado con sus discípulos por reaccionar y por Él, estaba enfocado en Jerusalén, donde sería clavado en una cruz para que todos pudieran reconciliarse y ser salvos (judío, samaritano, y gentil).
Debemos practicar el amor en todo momento, ¡pero practicar un amor cristiano que busque el mayor bien tanto para los amigos como para los enemigos! ¡Jesús nos pide a todos que lo sigamos, y debemos escuchar la gracia que nos da para dejar todo a un lado para Él!
¡Sigamos practicando el amor cristiano y demos todo lo que tenemos para seguir a Cristo hasta el final!

CCSL HEALTH MINISTRYAs a result of the interest in the Matter of Balance and Walk to Jerusalem programs, our parishes have developed a health ministry team. Team members include Lois Zettler, Mary Sue Baumann, Sandy Martin and Mary Pack. The team’s goal is to research, plan and
promote programs geared towards bettering our parish community through healthy living.
