THIS AND THAT
Last Sunday’s Parish Picnic was a true experi-
ence of the Risen Lord present in the St. Denis
community. We experienced Christ present in
our fellow parishioners. This took place at the
Mass at which many present took the time to
introduce themselves to someone they did not
know. This took place as the “grill people” set-
tled in and got to know one another and turned
out delicious burgers and hot dogs. This took
place as we brought our food to share at the
common tables. This took place as our chil-
dren played on the ball fields, at the sucker tree,
in the inflatable jumper, at the face painting ta-
ble, and during the games that were out of this
world. This took place as adults played their
games too which brought much laughter. This
took place at the raffle as we crowded around
the raffle table, shoulder to shoulder, and en-
joyed the good fortune of others and our own
as prizes were chosen.
We had an exceptional Picnic Committee this
year chaired by Mike and Norma Haas. The
members of the committee (who wore name
tags at the picnic) thought of just about every-
thing, organizationally speaking. It paid off in a
picnic that will long be remembered by us all.
Thanks to all of the committee members.
Thanks to our unsung heroes Devotion O’Con-
nor De Los Rios and Stephanie Schultz who
face painted all afternoon without a break. You
did a great job! Thanks again to Mike and
Norma for their dedicated leadership of this
event. You did a great job too!
And of course, thanks to all who attended the
picnic. We had a big crowd representing all of
the different components of our parish commu-
nity. It will be hard to top this picnic next year
but we’ll give it a try.
The deadline to turn in your White Sox tick-
ets from the postponed game of June 12th is to-
day, August 4th. Please see the article in this bul-
letin with all of the information concerning the
make up White Sox game. Again, all tickets
must be turned in today, August 4th if you wish
to join us for the game on August 9th.
May God bless us all,
Fr. Ted
TODAY IS THE DEADLINE TO RETURN
YOUR TICKETS FOR THE POSTPONED
WHITE SOX GAME
We are going to the White Sox game on Fri-
day, August 9th. The Minnesota Twins will be
the opponent. There will be a fireworks show
after the game. This game replaces the outing
that was cancelled on June 12th by the White
Sox because of bad weather. The bus will leave
at 5:30 PM from the parking lot west of the
school on August 9th. If you have a ticket or
tickets purchased at St. Denis to the June 12th
game you must return it to the parish office
TODAY, Sunday, August 4th. This will enable
us to exchange those tickets for admission to
the August game. Tickets not returned by the
deadline will be honored on September 23rd for
admission to U.S. Cellular Field.
Ticket holders have the option of retaining
the June 12th ticket if you do not wish to join us
on August 9th. Tickets dated June 12th will be
accepted by the White Sox on Monday, Sep-
tember 23rd for the game against the Blue Jays.
St. Denis will not provide a bus for the Septem-
ber 23rd game. The deadline to return your
tickets if you wish to join us on the bus is
TODAY, Sunday, August 4th. There can be no
exceptions to this deadline. Thank you for
your cooperation and understanding. Ques-
tions? Please contact us at the parish office as
soon as possible.
Parents of altar servers and circle of service
members will be contacted in regards to permis-
sion slips for the rescheduled game.
