Principles of LeadershipBy Andleeb Abbas
Leadership and sustainable leadership will only survive if it is principle-centered. Go back
to the natural laws and you will find that the principles of
integrity, equality and equity are the only ways of building
up trust, confidence and respect in the hearts and minds of people. Leaders
whose deeds do not match their rhetoric are bound to fail.
Leadership as a Partnership
The long term relationship between leader and group members facilitating shared decision making. The essentials for such a relationship are as under:
a. Exchange of purpose (deciding vision and values in shared manner with the leader in support)
b. A right to say no (ability to express a contrary opinion without fear and punishment……loosing an argument not a voice)
c. Absolute honesty (making people feel less vulnerable to expression of dissent and encouraging them to speak the truth)
