Characteristics of the Northeast
Climate: The temperature in the Northeast is typically hot and warm in the summer and cold in the winter. The moisture level is wet year round.
History: Known for the Pilgrims, the first English-speaking settlers of America. Boston, New York, Baltimore, and Philadelphia are among the Northeast's oldest cities.
Population: The population of the Northeast is about 57 million people. The people mostly live in cities and suburbs.
Landforms: The landforms of the Northeast are coasts, plains, highlands, and mountains.
Business: The people of the northeast work in mostly “service” jobs. There is also great deal of manufacturing, too. Goods such as books, clothing, and electronics are popular items in this region. Natural Resources: The natural resources of the Northeast include the Atlantic Ocean, fish, and trees.

A group of cities that have grown so close together that they appear to form one city.
