Once verification is complete, the last set-up step is to agree to use the login appropriately as a guest of UVU and decide about

sharing your contact information with the service for communication purposes. Note: There is a message system within the

tutoring portal but you will need to login to receive those messages if you choose not to allow access to your email or text info.

The next step is about your recovery options. This information will help in recovering your password, if needed. You can choose

cell phone or email for this. If you leave it blank, you will have to call UVU IT directly for password reset instructions. The software

will send a verification code to your choice and you will use that code to proceed.

Once Logged into UVU Online

Choose “Meet with a Tutor”

Next Search for the subject that you need help with. Use the subject name and then choose the GU class from the list.

These are tutors especially for GEAR UP Students. See the example pictured for the search “Math” below.

You will see a list of tutors that have signed up to help with GEAR UP subjects. Please note that these tutors have small

windows of time set aside to help GEAR UP students. Additionally, not all GEAR UP tutors are available for online tutoring

and will only be helping GEAR UP Students on site at UVU. For these reasons, you will need to filter your search for the

date and time that you are looking for assistance. This is done by moving the green slider to filter those results. Choose a

day of the week, time and be sure that Online is the type you are filtering for. Once a tutor is selected, click “schedule” to

make the appointment. You will receive a message to confirm the tutor had agreed to meet with you. You can communi-

cate with them, if needed through this portal by clicking on “Message”.

Scheduling UVU Online Tutoring

Go to uvu.mywconline.com and click on the "register for an account" link. You will need your email address and your UVU ID number (begins with CA######). Remember your password. You will verify your email is correct and then begin looking for tutor availability.

Scheduling an Online Web Conference Tutorial

If you have not registered for MyWCOnline, please see our Registration Handout for instructions on how to register. The Writing Center provides live synchronous online tutorials via the whiteboard system in MyWCOnline through a variety of mediums (web camera, audio, type chat, etc.).

Scheduling

To schedule an online tutorial:

1. Navigate to uvu.mywconline.com2. Enter your email address and password.3. Select the “Web Conference Tutorials” option from the drop-down menu.4. Click “Log-in”

You can also navigate to this schedule after you log in by clicking the drop-down menu next to the date.

5. The white spaces are the available time slots for appointments. Select the desired time. Thiswill open the appointment form pop-up window. In this window, you can choose if you wantthe tutorial to last for an hour or thirty minutes.

6. Fill out the form. The information will help tutors prepare for the tutorial and will be storedfor the Writing Center’s records. When you have completed the form, select the “SaveAppointment” option at the bottom.

You are now scheduled for an appointment! Your saved appointments will appear in yellow.

A confirmation email will be sent to your email address.

Attaching a Rough Draft

In order for the tutor to prepare for the online tutorial, the Writing Center must receive a copy of your rough draft at least one hour prior to the start of the tutorial. If you are scheduling a brainstorming session, no attachment is required, but please indicate that you are in the brainstorming stage on the appointment form.

To attach your rough draft to the saved appointment:

1. Select “click here”on theappointmentconfirmation page.

Or, if you’ve already scheduled your online appointment, go to the main schedule, and click the yellow folder icon located at the top-left corner.

2. Select your online appointment time from the top drop-down menu (arrow A).3. Click “Browse” and select the appropriate file from your computer (arrow B).4. Click “Upload File” (arrow C).

Checking in

To check in for your online tutorial: 1. Log in at uvu.mywconline.com2. Click on the yellow appointment block on the schedule. This will open up the appointment

form pop-up window.3. Click the red “Start or Join Online Consultation” text on the pop-up window.4. Once the consultation window opens, you may be prompted to share your camera and

microphone with your browser. Doing so will allow you and the tutor to communicate morequickly and more effectively.

We recommend joining the consultation room 5–10 minutes before your appointment. If there are any problems, call 801-863-8936, and speak with an office assistant.
