All part of the Core Sound story ...
The Willow Pond Natural Area now
serves as an important educational
experience to encourage the preservation
and stewardship of the freshwater
ecosystem of the Atlantic Flyway that
defines the lands and water of Eastern
North Carolina.
And then it happened ....
The children came!
Our first class on Willow Pond was the
kindergarten class of Harkers Island
Elementary School in December 2007.
We’ve only just begun
to tell this story ...
But you know what .....
Willow Pond ... A quiet place for generations.
