    John 1:14

  • CONFESSION AND FORGIVENESS

Almighty God,you are above all things, yet so very near to me. Because you already know me better than I know myself, I confess that I have not honored our relationship – I have sinned against you today. There are things that cause me shame and embarrassment – things I have thought, things I have said, things I have done – in your presence and in the presence of others. And there are things I have already forgotten or don’t even realize how hurtful they are. Help me remember that Je-sus is faithful when I am not, and restore me in your Spirit to continue in our life together.God knows what we do, yet sees who we are through the eyes of Jesus, who has joined God’s life with ours and in whom † we are made new. Mercifully broken and wholly mended, we are set upright to live again.Amen.

  • HYMN OF THE DAY: Of the Father’s Love Begotten #295

  • THE APOSTLES’ CREED I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

FAMILY BLESSING FOR THE NEW YEAR(As we begin 2021, we invite you to pray this special prayer of blessing along with us for your family. You may pray this prayer if you are gathered together or you may pray it on behalf of your family if you are separated by the miles. Please repeat each phrase of the prayer along with the Pastor.)

O Lord, bless our family and all of our loved ones, in this new year. Provide for our daily needs.Grant us good health and bless us with your protection and safekeeping during this COVID-19 pandemic, that we may continue to serve you.Bless us with the gift of peace that we may live in harmony with one another. • The Sacraments of the church are God’s gift to us.The Great Thanksgiving is when we lift our hearts in thanksgiving to a good and generous God.Jesus Christ is present for you in the bread and wine, it is the body and blood of Jesus Christ given and shed for you.

be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our tres-passes, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

DISTRIBUTION At this time we encourage you to prepare the table in your own homes with bread/cracker and wine/grapejuice. Take the bread in your hands and hear the word of Jesus: The body of Christ, broken for you. Now receive the bread.Take the cup and hear again the word of Jesus: The blood of Christ, shed for you. Now drink the cup.Be reminded of the confidence we have that God is the one who acts in the sacrament; Christ comes to us even when we gather virtually.

POST COMMUNION BLESSING AND PRAYERWe give you thanks, gracious God, that you have once again fed us from your very self with the body and blood of Christ. Through this mystery, send us forth to proclaim your promise to a world in need, through the same Jesus Christ, our Savior. Amen.

THE GREAT THANKSGIVINGThe Lord be with you.And also with you.Lift up your hearts. We lift them to the Lord.Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.It is right to give our thanks and praise.

SUPPORT OUR RADIO BROADCAST ON BOB-FMEvery Sunday morning at 9 am, Zion’s 8 am worship service is broad-cast on BOB-FM (106.1). Our radio broadcast covers a good portion of the state of Minnesota and reaches several hundred listeners each Sunday, including many who do not have internet capability. Special gifts to support Zion’s Radio Broadcast Fund are welcome. Gifts may be given in memory of a loved one or in honor of a special occasion such as a wedding anniversary. Thank you to recent supporters of the Radio Broadcast Fund.

BAPTISMS AT ZIONDue to the rise in the number of Covid cases, we would like to keep our families safe. We are changing how we do baptisms at Zion and will be pre-recording the baptisms at Zion on a Sunday morning at 9 am or a week day evening and then inserting the baptism into the livestream worship service on the date the family decides. We are still limiting the family members present to 10 people and all wearing masks, but pre-recording the baptism will limit the amount of people in the sanctuary. Please call or email Kristine Johnson or Pastor Connie Tiede for more information or to schedule your child’s baptism.

    DISMISSAL
