When given complete creative control and lots of coffee, what could go wrong? This challenge to create fresh and distinctive artwork to separate the brand from other local competitors and build a branding system was a thorough and comprehensive study in design. I was responsible for all vendor coordination and quality control. While concept development and design was my priority, I coordinated with other designers to execute shipping boxes and website design.

Designing for digital interfaces is the ultimate challenge to combine function with form. While my HTML skills are limited, I work well with developers and can quickly adapt to evolving methods in digital executions. From wireframes to final artwork and page layouts, every stage of the design has involved constant communication with the developer.

The saying “Do what you love and you’ll never work a day in your life” truly applies to me in regards to illustration. Coinciding with Labor Day, the poster (left) was included in a promotional mailer, paired with mobile and web versions to create interest and gain crucial contact information from the top 500 construction companies in America.
For several years, creating the artwork for The Barley Oak’s annual Oktoberfest was always a treat.

Illustration | Adding character to brands
ILLUSTRATION
Character illustration is challenging for several reasons, particularly capturing the client’s vision in the finished artwork. It’s a labor of love. I’ve illustrated characters with clean vector styling, detailed brushwork and everything in-between. With an extensive background in figure drawing and anatomy, I find character illustration to be a blend of science and art that’s most enjoyable.
