Welcome
Thank you for joining us and welcome to the Missouri Association of
Manufacturers (MAM) 16th Annual Missouri Manufacturing Summit. Today, our
focus is on building awareness during the Fourth Industrial Revolution and its
effect on manufacturing.
Smart manufacturing is creating a new age of responsive supply networks and
tailored products and services made possible by advanced technologies such
as the Internet of Things (IoT), real-time data analytics, and even
groundbreaking robotics and new developments in artificial intelligence (AI).
Through use of these and other interconnected technologies, the age of smart
manufacturing merges the digital world with physical action to facilitate better
manufacturing practices throughout a manufacturing enterprise.
Today’s smart manufacturing is vulnerable and at risk with the volume of
connected devices and shop floor automated systems (whether local or
remotely located). The advanced automation, data-rich production cycles and
complex global supply chains is making manufacturing particularly vulnerable
to new types of cyber-attacks.
With the additional increase to data access, it is important for manufacturers
to consider when data should be shared, and how to protect their data.
Deloitte and MAPI found that one-third of manufacturers have never
performed any cyber risk assessments of the devices operating on their
factory floors.
So, understanding the basic elements of cyber security is the first step to
meeting those threats and addressing those cyber challenges.
Our goal today is to provide insight into Industry 4.0 while providing
awareness of the vulnerabilities and possibilities to the manufacturing
industry. We hope you take time to network with other manufacturers and
visit our Partners and Sponsors during the expo. Thank you for joining us.
Be MAMSTRONG!
