BEAUTIFICATION & SAFETY IN DOWNTOWN BRAMPTON

The Downtown Brampton BIA (DBBIA) Beautification & Safety Team has been very active this past summer in response to a number downtown business inquiries, and concerns.

At this time, the DBBIA is currently reviewing the following projects with regards to safety and beautification: • Downtown Brampton BIA Clean & Safe Streets Initiative • Membership Communications Strategy - See Report it! Below• Consideration of Private Security for Downtown Brampton (possible pilot project)• Additional surveillance cameras in the both public & private spaces of the downtown core• More police presence in the downtown core • Peel Regional Police office in the downtown• Community Services Audit for the Downtown Brampton Area• Downtown Brampton Safe Streets Ambassador Program

MONTHLY BEAUTIFICATION & SAFETY MEETINGS:

The DBBIA Beautification & Safety Team will be hosting regular monthly meetings in September, October and November on the first Thursday of each month from 9 – 10:30 a.m. at the Downtown Brampton BIA office. If you and/or your staff would like to be involved please email Teagan at [email protected].

Reporting issues in the downtown core helps all of us!

Please see below a copy of the DBBIA’s Report it! Report it! has also been included in the DBBIA’s fall newsletter as an insert, which is an internal communications piece for your business. Be sure to post this in an area of your store/business that all staff can access. You may also want to review Report it! with your staff to better understand the different types of reports that can be made to Peel Regional Police (emergency/non-emergency) and to the City of Brampton via emailing or calling 3-1-1. In addition to this, the DBBIA recommends that all businesses reach out to Superintendent Sean McKenna at 22 Division - Peel Regional Police for any additional safety concerns in the downtown core. Sean McKenna’s contact information is [email protected] or 289-541-6480.
