A weed management natural. If you think herbicides and hand weeding are the only way to manage container weeds, think again. Now you can topdress containers with PBH rice hulls to help prevent airborne weed seeds from reaching the growing mix and germinating. It’s simple. It saves you money. And it works. Uniquely processed and parboiled to verify purity, PBH rice hulls support sustainable plant production.

• SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCES HAND WEEDING LABOR AND EXPENSE

• EXCELLENT POTENTIAL FOR REDUCED HERBICIDE USE

• CAN REDUCE DROUGHT STRESS AND WATERING

• COSTS JUST PENNIES PER CONTAINER

PBH Nature’s Media Amendment is also used as a perlite replacement in greenhouse growing media. Always trial any material used in a new application for adaptability to your operation.

PUB CRAWLThursday, August 24, 5:30–7:30pm, off-site at Doug Fir LoungeLet’s embark from the Oregon Convention Center for the sixth annual Farwest Pub Crawl!

This year brings a new adventure and format as everyone meets at one central location, where a big gathering equates to an even better time. Experience the finest beverages Portland has to offer starting at the Doug Fir Lounge located at 830 E. Burnside Street, Portland. Enjoy the Doug Fir’s newly renovated patio, where we catch some warm rays and cool beverages. A map of neighborhood pubs, breweries and distilleries will be available to embark on your crawl to surrounding des-tinations. With so many options to choose from, you and your fellow Farwest Fanatics will be sure to have a fun-filled night on the town! It is equal parts fun, networking and relaxation!

Our “Beer Sherpas” will depart between 5:15–5:30pm from the Show Office Room C120 to guide you on your journey to the Doug Fir Lounge via the Portland Street-car local transit.

The first 50 people to the Doug Fir Lounge will receive a complimentary beverage. Check www.FarwestShow.com and the Farwest App for more details coming soon.

NETWORKING EVENTSTake advantage of these informal and fun ways to enhance your connections at Farwest. Both events are held up-stairs at VIP Room B (follow the signs near the main show entrance in C Lobby). This is a great time to take a break from the busyness of the trade show floor. Make time in your schedule for building your career, networking with people face-to-face and meeting industry contemporaries. Don’t forget your business cards!

EMERGENT NETWORKING EVENT: A GROUP FOR GROWING PROFESSIONALS Wednesday, August 23, 3:30–5pm, VIP Room BIf you’re a young nursery professional, this is the place to be! Emergent began in 2011 with a handful of eager, talented horticulture professionals. Members include some of the bright-est and most enthusiastic faces in the industry. OAN Members Crystal Cady (Skagit Horticulture) and Josh Robinson (Robinson Nursery), both founding members of the group, will be there to greet you! Don’t miss this opportunity to establish new rela-tionships and build the future of horticulture.

The conversation continues where it began on the Face-book group, “Emergent: A Group for Growing Profes-sionals.” Check out the ever-expanding community of over 3,000 horticulture professionals sharing informa-tion, job postings and inspiring ways we can build the future of the industry.

WOMEN IN HORTICULTURE EVENTThursday, August 24, 3:30–5pm, VIP Room B

At the Women in Horticulture network-ing event, you can make new connections with horticulture peers from across the nation. It’s a great place to mingle with your green industry sisters, expand your business network, and share experiences

in horticulture to keep growing your career. This year, meet Leslie Halleck, a Certified Professional Horticultur-ist (ASHS) with 25 years of green industry experience. She currently runs Halleck Horticultural LLC, through which she provides horticultural consulting, business and marketing strategy, product development and branding, and content creation for green industry companies. This casual networking event is designed to cultivate lasting career support.
