EXPANDING FAMILY START & MOKOPUNA ORA• Family Start is a voluntary home visiting service
that helps whānau/families who are struggling with challenges or problems that put at risk good health, education and social outcomes for their children.
• The programme is being expanded to nation-wide coverage.
• Mokopuna Ora is a partnership with Waikato-Tainui that keeps tamariki connected with their whānau, hapū and iwi and has been extended from Waikato into South Auckland.
WORKING TOGETHER • Prevention will be central to what Oranga
Tamariki does. By investing up front in our children and their families, we can ensure their wellbeing further down the line, and reduce the costs to society.
• This way of working will improve the lives of children by applying rigorous and evidence-based investment practices to social services.
• We need to partner effectively with others to tackle difficult issues and make a real difference for vulnerable tamariki.
