Wednesdays are busier and fuller than ever this year! The evening starts early with Kids Crusader Club, grades K-5) at 3:30. At 5:30 a wonderful hot meal is served by volunteers and enjoyed by about 150 people.

After dinner the little ones (3yr-3rd grade) enjoy Glory Bees. Ladies enjoy knitting together. A Bible Study over Genesis has been meeting. About 30 high school stu-dents meet for youth group. The choir practices at 8:00 p.m.

On November 14 the church staff will serve Thanksgiv-ing dinner beginning at 5:30. A delicious meal of smoked turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beams, cranberry relish, hot bread and pie will be served!

Come and experience the joy of christian fellowship with your church family on Wednesday evening!

A Note from Pastor Brent Some of us were fairly young when we joined the church. It is always good to be reminded of

our vows. For those who join this denomination, there is one question which is asked focused

on this particular church, “Will you be loyal to the United Methodist Church, and uphold it by

your prayers, your presence, your gifts, and your service?” Over the years, we have typically

asked members to specifically plan their response to this vow in just one area – the amount of

money they planned to give in the coming year.

If we step back and meditate on the life of the church, the most crucial is the first on this list. Before Jesus

picked his disciples (the leaders of the church he would build), he spent the night praying. [Luke 6:12-14]

When he saw the large number of people coming to him and their vast needs, he told his disciples to pray to

the “Lord of the harvest” that he would send workers. [Matthew 9:35-38] The Church began after the

original followers of Jesus had spent 50 days in prayer. [Acts 1] These are just a few references among many

showing the crucial part prayer plays in the life of the church.

Therefore, the most important resource we bring to this church is the time we are willing to commit to praying

for its life, ministries, leadership, and outreach. In response to this truth, on the Sunday before Thanksgiving,

November 18, we will be asking our members to pledge their time in this coming year to pray. We will be

offering helpful materials to guide us in those prayers. We are working on creating a prayer room. At the

same time, we will let the community know we want to pray for them and for any needs they have.

Ultimately, your commitment to pray is the key to the life, health, and future of this church.

The Fellowship Class prepares the Wednesday night meal.

Salvation Army Dinner Friday, November 9

6:00 p.m.

If you helped with the Salvation Army bell ringing campaign last Christmas

season, please join us for dinner as a thank you for your service!

Sunday School Breakfast

All you have to do is buy groceries or fuel at Dillons! Dillons has now made fundraising easy for the FUMC youth with the Neighborhood Reward Program. Purchase a $5 gift card ($5 is on the card) and reload the card with additional money when shopping or buying gas at Dillon’s. Reloads can be purchased at customer service; the register, before

checking out; or at the gas pump. When the FUMC youth group total reaches $5,000 or more in reloads, we will receive a rebate check for 5% of the total amount spent by all card holders. Cards can be reloaded over and over again.

Our youth groups are strong and well attended thanks to our sponsors and parents. We have between 30-35 attending each group. It takes approximately $7,500 to take the MS youth to Young Christians Week-end in Branson and about $13,000 to take the HS youth on the mission trip to San Antonio. This fundraiser will be of great help toward financing these inspirational events.

The youth received a check for over $800 for reloads during the month of September. Cards can be purchased from Terri Campbell, Lori Oathout, or Craig Meeker.

Preschool through high school kicked off the school year with a Sunday School breakfast! The aroma of bacon filled the hallways of the second floor while the sweet smell of pancakes drifted up the stairs from the basement!

After consuming several pounds of bacon the middle school and high school students had the opportunity to hear Jeremy Edwards and Gary Fike tell about their summer experience called Kaleo through Stu-dent Mobilization at Kansas State University. Gary and Jeremy also answered questions from the stu-dents about college and how to get involved with

faith groups as well as to ask to reflective questions about what they would have done differently in high school.

Gwen Stalcup, Patti Sober, Jeremy and Tessa Stewart, Marsha Fraas and Megan Hadorn flipped pancakes for the preschool through 5th graders.

Let’s kick off basketball season together! Join us for the showing of “Mighty Macs” the true story of a girl’s basketball team in the early

1970’s. This is the inspiring story of an all girls college, on the verge of closing, which produces a winning basketball team by teaching

the values of commitment, teamwork and courage. The movie earns the “Dove Family-Approved” award from the Dove Founda-tion. The movie is rated G. Check out the movie reviews at plugge-

din.com or dove.org.

All three Wee Too Preschool classes visited the Munch-

month of October. The children enjoyed picking their

own pumpkin, seeing different animals, eating snacks

in the hay bale maze and play in a corn bin.

Be sure and visit our Facebook page to see what is hap-

pening!

Wee Too preschool is a minis-

try of the church. At this time

funds are needed to supply
