Appendix 15: Characteristics of a critical work situation

Characteristics of the job

Complex situation

Unexpected situation, destroyed routine

Contains a dilemma

Requires a direct choice

Asks for a task, handling or behaviour change that you have not previously shown.

Is excited

You learn something out of it

A critical professional situation is personal. Some situations might be critical for one person even

dough it doesn’t have to be for another person. This depends on earlier experiences and abilities;

however, this should fit within the level of the education. It does not necessarily have to be a

situation where it went wrong, or where you did not well. You might have handled the situation

well.

It is important that you could tell how it was, what you considerations were and on which grounds

did you made your choices. What was the outcome, and what were your findings you have made

yourself. Possibly you can add some learning goals for the future.

To grade it is interesting to assess whether your learning goals where valuable and if you have

used them in other situations and how it went out.
