What about whirlpools?
Whirlpools further enhance the positive effects of the bathing.
At temperatures above 36°C the heat intake is increased.
The whirling water also moves the hairs on the skin, sending
relaxation signals to the body. The movement of the water
makes us more sensitive to relaxation processes. As with a
massage, the receptors are stimulated and relaxation hormones
produced. At the same time the blood circulation to the skin
is improved and the muscles relaxed, in this way even relieving
pain to a certain extent. The skin also benefits from the more
powerful washing action.
How do the three new programmes Flow, Energyand Fit work?
Flow, Energy and Fit are based on manual techniques used
by physiotherapists and masseurs. Thanks to the innovative
movable Whisper Active Jets the whirling flow can be adjusted
to the required needs. Flow gently strokes the skin, increasing
sensitivity and giving a feeling of weightlessness.
The result is complete relaxation. The Energy programme is based
on the acupressure technique in which energy meridians are
stimulated by light pressure and energy blockages removed.
Large areas of the body are addressed successively. Lost energy
returns and can be stored. Fit is the most sporty programme. The
directed massage removes muscle blockages. The whirlpool bath
is relax ing and refreshing, giving renewed strength and energy.

Is it always important to immerse yourself fully?
Not at all. For people with rheumatic pain, tension in the shoulder
and neck muscles or with a cold, a full bath is the best way of
gaining relief. A hot bath is also a good way of countering stress
and relaxing before retiring to bed. By contrast, a tepid or cold
half-bath for seconds or minutes is an ideal way of cooling down
on a hot day. Arm or leg baths are a time-saving alternative to
improve circulation and as a remedy for varicose veins and high
or low blood pressure or to prevent hardening of the arteries.
What is so special about the three whirlpool programmes?
Each programme has its own choreography, starting with an
introduction, developing to the main part, and then a slow
conclusion. The programme rhythm can be felt and understood.
This is particularly agreeable because we live in cycles and feel
comfortable with regularly recurring processes. Each programme
runs for a fixed time to ensure that its effect can be utilised to
the full. In this way you can be sure of doing something for your

Prof. Allmann, what is the connection betweenhealth and bathing?
The pace, complexity and stress of modern life have produced
increasing concerns about personal health and there is a
growing move towards individual health management. We are
becoming responsible for our own health and seek possibilities
for maintaining or improving it. At the same time there is a
greater demand for rest and relaxation. We seek solutions in our
direct living environment. This is why the bathroom is becoming
more important. It has always been a retreat and refuge but it is
now also a place for active health management.
What effect does bathing have on the body?
Bathing has several positive physical and psychological effects.
When we lie in the bath we automatically feel relaxed. The water
makes us feel unusually light, takes the weight off our limbs. The
hydrostatic pressure in a bath produces a counter-reaction in
the body: the blood circulates, the heart rate increases and the
metabolism is stimulated. The water friction promotes blood
circulation to the skin and relaxes the muscles.

Compared with a massage with constant sensory stimulation, the skin remains sensitive for longer – the massage is perceptibly more intense and has a longer lasting effect.The beneficial zonal massage has two settings: the motion of individual jetsallows the intermittent pulsation of the airflow from individual base and side jets. The wave motion allows the intermittent pulsation of the airflow from all base and side jets. For completely individual relaxation, the massage mode can be regulated at various speeds and fixed at any setting.
Air RoyaleULTIMATE FITNESS is available as standard with 12 base jets and WHISPERwith 8 base jets. For a more comprehensive massage, the AIR ROYALE option increases the number of base jets to 24; these are densely distributed to optimumeffect over the entire base of the bath so that thousands of tiny air bubbles create a bubbling champagne effect on contact points over the whole body with a pleasant, relaxing effect on the skin.
Back and foot jetsThis option is ideal in the case of tense neck muscles or slight back problems, forexample, after a tiring day at the office: for an optimum full-body massage, 10 flat SOFT TOUCH massage jets in soft grey are integrated in the bath. 6 backjets and 4 foot jets, each is individually adjustable and closable.
The back and foot jets are linked with the function of the side jets and can be set at any of three settings:
• Large opening top: an intense mix of air and water streams out of the jet – optimum for a localised massage
• Large opening on right: the jet is closed, the massage pressure increases on the other jets – ideal for a local lower back or foot massage
• Large opening below: the jet emits five small gentle streams of air and water – the result is a pleasant massage

Multibox for whirlpool systems
With MULTIBOX, Villeroy&Boch offers a completely pre-installed system for easy panelling of baths with whirlpool systems –it is individually height adjustable. The self-supporting structure greatly facilitates installation since it eliminates the need for a supporting wall and can be tiled immediately. The front panel can be opened up at any time to provide easy access to thetechnical components, which means there is no need for a separate inspection opening. Furthermore, MULTIBOX is designedso that air can circulate without a visible ventilation grate.

Safety and hygiene
The whirlpools from Villeroy&Boch meet the highest safety and hygiene requirements. To guarantee hygiene, some modelsare fitted with special jets or have a fully automatic cleaning system. This is activated automatically when the bathwater hasemptied. The lines are then blown dry with air. Blowdrying can also be activated manually, for example, if water gets into thesystem during cleaning. To guarantee safe operation, all water-based whirlpool systems are fitted with a special hair trap. This ensures that there is no water intake if the outlet is blocked. All systems are fitted with a level sensor to prevent dry running to ensure that the whirlpool cannot be switched on if there is no water in the bath. All whirlpool systems carry theKEMA mark of conformity. Of course, all systems also feature the CE logo. Quaryl® products from Villeroy&Boch are alsoTÜV-approved. In addition, all functions of each whirlpool system are tested extensively in the factory. Please also observe the cleaning and care instructions in the operating instructions.
Guarantee & warranty
The statutory guarantee period applies for all Villeroy&Boch products. All baths and shower trays, whether acrylic or Quaryl®,have a 10-year guarantee in accordance with the applicable warranty conditions.
Whirlpool unit
All Villeroy&Boch whirlpool systems are fully pre-installed at the factory. The technical units are installed in such a manneras to avoid any projections beyond the dimensions of the bath. With most systems, all the technical elements are mounted on a vibration-reducing base.
Care tips & hygiene information
Acrylic and Quaryl® surfaces are extremely easy to clean as they are pore-free and seamlessly smooth. For the surfaces to retaintheir brilliance, all that is needed is regular treatment with a sponge and a liquid cleaning agent that is also suitable for synthetics, such as acrylic.
Limescale deposits and loss of shine are easily eliminated with vinegar-based or special limescale cleaners. Alkaline cleaningagents, such as standard washing-up liquid, can be used to remove substances that leave greasy marks.
Slight damage, such as scratches, to the acrylic with full-body colouring can be removed using standard repair sets or polishing paste. Via their local dealer, customers can also contact the Villeroy&Boch Customer Services, which operatesthroughout Germany.
Wood elements have a waterproof coating as standard but should simply be wiped with a dry cloth after taking a bath.
Thanks to the high technical standard from Villeroy&Boch, the whirlpool systems offer optimum hygiene. In addition, all whirlpool jets can be easily removed and cleaned.
