What is sustainability?• Sustainability is preserving things for the future. To be

sustainable means that the materials you use are either renewable, bio degradable or can be manufactured from eco friendly, non-polluting factories.

• When thinking about sustainability in the design process of a building or public space you have to consider all aspects.

• If you make a building out of materials that need to be transported all the way from China then you have to consider how it is getting her and what effect it will have on the environment.

Sustainability within our facilities

In all of our newly developed buildings we have many sustainable features that improve the way we live and ensure a greener future for the generations to come.

Solar Panels and their effect

• All of our buildings have solar panels to use sustainable electricity. Solar panels collect the rays from the sun and turn it into energy without having to burn fossil fuels which are finite and non-renewable.

Water tanks

• Each of our buildings and facilities have water tanks to collect water and recycle it to be re used as drinking water so that the Wentworth Point community will consume less water and preserve water as well.

Glass windows

• Our facilities also have many sky lights and glass windows to let in the light reducing the need for electricity for heating or gas heating conserving fossil fuels.

Sustainability in the Discovery centreThe discovery center has a compost bin to reduce organic product waste and create a fertilizer for the gardens to help the grass and plants grow. Also we have glass windows to reduce the need for heating and a water tank and irrigation system to save water and recycle the water.We have a bike rack as well to encourage people to ditch their air polluting cars and opt for the safer and greener option of bikes!

My design team, Celeste Ann-Rose Designs, are working hard to make Wentworth Point community a Sustainable area for many

generations to come.
