Happy New Year
Welcome 2018! We would like to wish all of our families a Happy New Year. We are looking forward to a fun and exciting year as we become more and more acclimated to our new learning environment! Please help us welcome Ms. McKenzie to our team. She has been hired as our Lead Toddler 1 teacher, and we
look forward to working with her.
We are also very excited about our Open House scheduled for Saturday, January 20th for 9:00 am - 12:00pm. Please join us for all the fun and bring
your friends!
Just a few reminders as we start off the
new year
NAC Update: As part of our reaccreditation process, NAC Surveys were sent out to parents back in June of 2017. The purpose of the surveys was to obtain feedback from parents and families who we serve. Our Accreditation process was placed on hold due to the relocation. However, now that the transition has been made, we will soon undergo our NAC Validation. Within the next few months we will receive a two week window in which the validators will make an unannounced visit to conduct an in-depth observation of our teachers and classroom operations. We will keep you apprised of the process as time goes on. Reminder:
In an effort to have more timely and accurate billing, we encourage you to consider using Tuition Express, which
is our paperless billing option. Please see Marthan for more
information.
In our continuous ef-fort to ensure that we are staffed properly, it is important to report absences in a timely manner. Please call the center by 10:00am if your child will be out for the day or if you are planning to bring them in later in the day. In addition, remember that all schedule changes must be approved by Marthan or Dana. Teachers are staffed based on the children’s schedules provided by
parents.
You are continuously encouraged to take advantage of our Parent Referral incentive. From now until March 31st, if you refer a family to our West Allis Center and they stay with us for four weeks, you will receive TWO weeks
of free tuition, up to a $500 value!
Thank You:
As our way of saying thank you to the families for moving to West Allis with us Ebenezer will give you a free week of your child’s scheduled tuition after a month's enrollment here at the new
center.
We would also like to thank those who shared their concerns about the fence. As you can see those concerns were heard and a taller fence has been installed. Please know that your concerns will always be heard and taken into consideration as we continue to strive to
provide the best care possible.

Snow Day Activity Plan
Snow days can occur throughout our long winters in Wisconsin. While the idea may seem like fun, staying stuck indoors with young children can be a challenge. Having a plan can help! Make Music Search your kitchen cabinets for bowls, spoons and plastic containers to create musical instruments. Sing favorite songs while encouraging your child to play along with the beat. Through this play, your child can anticipate patterns and place objects or events in sequence building critical early math and reading skills. Experiment Use the snow outside to create an experiment and talk about cold and compare it ice and water. How does it feel different or the same? Use other words to describe cold, like freezing, icy, or chilly. Watch how ice and snow can melt and talk about the process. Be Active and Get Out Some Energy
Create obstacle courses with pillows and make tunnels with blankets.
Make “snowballs” out of rolled up socks and have a “snowball” fight or strengthen fine motor skills by crumbling paper to create your “snowballs.”
Play hide-and-seek, freeze tag and other active games.
Play “Hop the Iceberg” with pillows or cut out large white circles and have your child hop from pillow or circle without falling into the cold water.
Play Pretend or Read
Pretend it’s one of the stuffed animal’s birthdays and organize a party with all the fixings: tea party, cake, pretend candles and of course, lots of stuffed animal friends. What are the teddy bears eating? What games do they like to play? Activities like this encourage using imagination to expand on a pretend play scenario.
Cut 10-15 squares (about the size of a piece of bread) from different colors and textures of fabric. Say, “I’m going to make a sandwich” and pile up a few squares. Activities like this encourage symbolic thinking and pretend play skills.
Chose snow-themed winter books like The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats or Snowballs by Lois Ehlert.
