Community Association Representatives:
Name: Chris Community: Glenbrook Community Association
Bio: I have been a resident of the Glenbrook community for 8 years, and
continue to be thankful I chose it to be my home. The ability to be part of
a mature community is really what I love the most; the trees, established
and local commercial shops, access to good transportation of all kinds
from walking, driving, transit and biking and sense of community. I see the
same great aspects throughout the adjacent communities in the
Westbrook area and look forward to aligning the planning for the future.
Name: Grant Community: Glendale Community Association
Bio: I've lived in Glendale for over 35 years and grew up in Wildwood. I
enjoy the R-C1 feel of the area feel and know we have to increase density
and hope that this can be done smartly and with respect to residents and
communities. As we grow I've asked that we grow smartly. These
communities have been around for over 60 years and grown accordingly. I
do not like the push by The City and developers to bring 60 future years of
development at my doorstep in the next few years. SMART
DEVELOPMENT.
Name: Carolyn Community: Killarney/Glengarry C/A
Bio: I love living local! Having lived in many different cities, I see the
value of walkable communities and how the balance of shared open
spaces, local businesses and access to transit can be successful. In the
Westbrook Communities area, I love that I can get onto the Bow Cycle
path in minutes, I like that I can walk home from dinner on 17th, we have
great transit options, great schools, and I can get to the mountains
quickly! Excited to collaborate and the opportunity to shape an urban
realm

Name: Gary Community: Richmond Community Association
Bio: I have lived in a Westbrook Community for the past few years. I am
currently the Director of Planning for the Richmond Knob Hill Community
Association and I am also a member of the Montgomery Planning
Committee. The most exciting part of being on this working group is we
provide input that may shape how the Westbrook Communities grow and
develop.
Name: Lori Community: Rosscarrock Community Association
Bio: As a Rosscarrock resident of 16 years, I am excited to participate in
the development of a vision that will enhance and respect the diverse
cultures, ages and needs of our residents and our neighbours, now and in
the future. Infrastructure like the CTrain, designated bike lanes and
accessible curbs results in a more walkable and accessible place to live
and raise families, while creating opportunities to continue to influence
and implement positive, safe improvements.
Name: Weston Community: Shaganappi Community Association
Bio: I live, work and play in Shaganappi. This community has potential to
be one of the best in the city given its access to transit, range of housing
options, and future mixed use along 17th Ave. I think a singular ARP can
be beneficial for simplifying the planning process.

Name: Lois Community: Spruce Cliff Community Association
Bio: Resident of Spruce Cliff since 1982, with great neighbours and
access to nature. The Community has changed a lot, not all of it without
growing pains. Engaged communities are great places to live.
Name: Michael Community: Westgate Community Association
Bio: I have been in Westgate since December 2016. I love how friendly
our neighborhood is, and also I feel like it is a great place to raise a
family! My vision would be to continue to create and promote a modern
yet safe community for years to come. It is exciting to have a say in the
development of a community that you want to raise a family in. It is a
privilege to have the opportunity to help shape this community for the next
generation.
Name: Kim Community: Wildwood Community Association
Bio: I have lived in Wildwood for 10 years. I love the community in more
ways than we could ever had expected. I am grateful to be a part of such
a great neighbourhood, and to raise our daughter where she knows all of
her neighbours and she knows them. I am hopeful that with time
Wildwood will gradually become more diverse and also more walkable
with more things to do. I joined this group to contribute, but also to further
my keen interest in urban design

Community Members
Name: Adam Community: Glenbrook
Bio: My wife and I bought our first home in Glenbrook in 2017. As a
relatively new homeowner I'm interested in ensuring the community
develops in a thoughtful way with an eye to the long-term. Let's anticipate
the future and develop communities that work now just now, but into the
decades to come. My priorities are reducing congestion, pollution, and
cement jungles, and increasing sustainability and green community
spaces.
Name: Ali Community: Glenbrook
Bio: I have been living in this community more than four years. This
community has high rank schools and is very convenient. In my opinion it
has a lot of potential to grow. It is close to downtown so it’s going to be
population absorbent in the future; and many companies’ office spaces
will be constructed in this area. As an Architect, Urban Planner, and
resident, I have commitment to this community and would like to see
improvement of the area and am ready to serve this challenging
assignment.
Name: Ann Do Community: Glenbrook
Bio: Hello, my name is Ann Do. I’ve lived in Glenbrook with my son since
the summer of 2013 when we moved to Calgary from Ha Noi, Viet Nam. A
year later, I started working for a non-profit community services agency
that has been active in the area for more than 20 years with its office in
Killarney. I’ve developed a natural bonding with the Westbrook
Communities area in the last six years! I love walking and my son loves
biking. We really enjoy the area for its proximity to green spaces, public
amenities, professional services and its easy access to public transit. I am
interested in the long term and sustainable growth for the area.

Name: Jonathon Community: Glenbrook
Bio: The first house I lived in was on 37th street. I climbed trees, broke
my arm, and had my first job on that street. Now, Westbrook is no stranger
to me. The vital communities here are amazing, from Optimist to The
Lawn Bowling Club. Moving forward, I would love to see more casual
gathering places that encourage the smaller communities to mix. Central
parks, interactive art, and well supported community led initiatives can
take Westbrook and make it stronger.
Name: Robyn Community: Glenbrook
Bio: My family has lived in the Westbrook Communities area for over 30
years from when I was a kid to now with my own son. Through experience
and education I now recognize that Westbrook Communities Area as
having many foundational elements that make it great: from walkable
streets, large trees, several parks, and local commercial. I hope to see
these core elements expanded upon and to see diversification,
densification, and a continued emphasis on healthy communities focused
on people.
Name: Christine Community: Glendale
Bio: I moved to Glendale in January 2019. I love that the local community
organizations host gatherings that bring together diverse community
members over common causes. I have lived in Ottawa, Toronto, Halifax,
Edinburgh (UK), Leicester (UK), Leiden (Netherlands) and Calgary and
am passionate about community building. Infrastructure, density and new
development have a huge impact on quality of life and I'm excited to be a
member of this working group.

Name: Doug Community: Glendale
Bio: My wife and I recently moved to Glendale from an infill in
Richmond/Knob Hill. The objectives of the move included a smaller
house, more room for gardens and a workshop, and proximity to a C-
Train station. We were very pleased to find what we were looking for just
two communities over, as we have grown very attached to this area. My
contribution to the working group will include sharing the experience I
gained during the nine years that I acted as Chair of RKHCA's
Development Committee.
Name: Brian Community: Killarney/Glengarry
Bio: I have lived in the area for a little over one year after purchasing a
home in Killarney. I enjoy the people of the community and the unique
services and public spaces. My vision for the community is for diverse
community, cultural, and commercial improvement. I believe the
community can keep its charm, while at the same time offering new and
unique experiences for current residents and guests. I wanted to be part
of this community group to share my experience and learn from other
residents.

Name: Diana Community: Killarney/Glengarry
Bio: Community of Killarney has been a home for my family for three
years-since we moved to Canada from Russia. Proximity to Downtown
and many parks, public transit options, good schools, mature tree-lined
streets, a mix of housing, established recreation amenities - this is why I
love the area! I also enjoy walking and eyeing the charming older houses.
I like that I can get by without a car but would love to see walkability
improved, more pedestrian and bike-friendly streets, new communal
urban spaces.
Name: Lisa Community: Killarney/Glengarry
Bio: I've lived in Killarney since 2005. I grew up in nearby Glamorgan
and attended AE Cross and Ernest Manning so I have a long history with
the area. What I love most is the area's walkability, wide range of
businesses that cater to all my needs, access to many transportation
corridors and the easy access to the river pathway and the trails in
Edworthy, my happy place! I want to see Westbrook remain a diverse
community full of many different housing options and local small
businesses.

Environmental Scientist and Partner at a local Environmental Consulting
firm. My husband and I purchased a house in Killarney in 2015 and
Killarney has quickly become home. We love the proximity to downtown
and are thankful for our neighbours that have become our friends. I am
excited to be a part of this working group to help achieve a safe,
accessible, and vibrant community that feels like home for current and
future residents.

Name: Andrew Community: Richmond
Bio: Richmond resident for 10 years, I enjoy the green spaces but also
the proximity to Marda Loop and downtown. My vision for the area would
be to continue to add density to the areas which are currently designated
that way, while ensuring to protect and respect the residential areas and
their parks. I would advocate to ensure public transit growth matches the
population growth. I am interested in participating in the working group to
be part of building the community where I live with my family.
Name: Brenna Community: Rosscarrock
Bio: I'm a new resident in the Westbrook Communities area, but I'm very
happy to be living here. My partner and I love our neighborhood, with easy
access to transit, the public library, shopping, and green spaces. Our dog
is happy too - he loves being near Edworthy park for long walks. I have a
vision for the area that blends pedestrian and pedal-friendly spaces,
parks, and public institutions effectively to be a 'home hub' for a diverse
group of city residents (rental and owners).
Name: Gennaro Community: Rosscarrock
Bio: My family recently moved into the Rosscarrock neighborhood in
2019. I enjoy the active community association, family atmosphere, and
many great restaurants and shops throughout the community. I am
excited to meet members from across the community and gain a better
understanding of the development opportunities and stakeholder
concerns to ensure the long term success and vibrancy of the Westbrook
communities. When I am not part of the working group, I am a banker.

Name: Noni Community: Rosscarrock
Bio: I am a native Calgarian, born and raised in southwest Calgary. I
moved to the community five years ago; having looked at many different
communities in the SW. I love the convenience of the transit access,
retail, pathways, and other amenities that are offered. The Westbrook
Communities are comprised of a great group of communities with a lot to
offer - the vision should reflect the best of each specific area. I'm keen to
learn more about the people, flavors, and elements of each of these
areas.
Name: Shonny Community: Shaganappi
Bio: I moved to Shaganappi in April 2019 and specifically chose this area
due to its central location. What I love most about the area is the
established neighborhoods with character as well as the mix of the new
homes. Lots of trees and parks too! In the next 20-30 years, I think it
would be great if the Westbrook Mall area/c-train station were beautified. I
would also like to see the 17th ave area centralized in a way like Marda
Loop. I’m excited to meet new people and learn something new!
Name: Chantal Community: Spruce Cliff
Bio: I'm a recent addition to the Westbrook area. I moved here in July
2019 knowing very little about the area and I am glad I did! The area
offers an amazing quality of life with easy access to transit, restaurants,
river pathways, and other amenities. I believe nature is essential to the
well-being of citizens and am an advocate of preserving green spaces in
neighborhoods. I am excited to learn from the diverse perspectives of
committee members as we work together over the coming months.

Name: Kate Community: Spruce Cliff
Bio: I’m a year-round cycling commuter who’s been living in Spruce Cliff
for three years. I love how easy it is to access the city by cycling from
Spruce Cliff, and I love that the area has great shopping, living, and
transportation amenities. My vision for the Westbrook Communities is a
strong focus on density, mixed use, active transport, and transit to make a
sustainable and desirable neighborhood of the future. I wanted to join this
group to be a strong voice for active transport and transit.
Name: Michael Community: Spruce Cliff
Bio: I have lived in Westgate Park since 2007 and have seen many
developments shape our community, most notably the West LRT. These
neighborhoods have the highest growth and gentrification potential in the
entire city, which I believe will occur through smart and thoughtful
development. I'm excited to meet like-minded and engaged neighbors to
explore this vision with. I am a marketing director at a large architectural
firm, and have worked on many well-known buildings across Calgary and
Canada.
Name: Brittany Community: Upper Scarboro
Bio: Our family relocated from the suburbs to Upper Scarboro in 2017 to
simplify our lives. We enjoy an active lifestyle and this community has
allowed us to be within walking distance to work, schools, grocery stores,
a golf course and a pool among many more amenities. In the short time
we have been here we have seen rebuilds on our street as well as well as
many upgrades to original homes, which excites me and has me
wondering what the Westbrook Communities will look like in the decades
to come.

Name: Jon Community: Westgate
Bio: I've lived in Calgary for almost 20 years and have been a resident of
Westbrook for the past 10. It's the part of the city that my family and I have
chosen to live due to its proximity to both downtown Calgary and the
mountains. We've seen some changes in the area and are looking forward
to further growth and improvements to make the area one of the most
livable and desired parts of the city for people to live, work, and play.
Name: Larry Community: Wildwood
Bio: Originally, my wife and I were attracted to Wildwood for its proximity
to Edworthy Park, the Douglas Fir Trail, and a quick exit to the mountains.
Thanks to our children, our connections expanded to include the areas’
schools, recreation, and a broadening circle of friends. For me, being part
of the Working Group is about working with others to create a Local Area
Plan that guides how people will intersect with their physical space in a
way that builds connections within our communities.

ensure that participants have a meaningful experience which is inclusive,
transparent, and positive.
Name: Steph City Department: Engagement
Bio: I was raised in the mecca otherwise known as Okotoks and grew up
adventuring around the south end of Calgary – always jumping on the C-
train at Anderson and heading north to the metropolis of downtown - to
the good ol’ TD Square; it was truly a whole new world then. I am a
HUGE fan of the Montreal bagel shop on Heritage and Elbow - if you
haven’t been, definitely check it out! When I’m not kicking back and
enjoying a sweet bagel, I get out to the mountains as much life will allow
to snowboard/hike and adventure with my family. I have been with The
City’s public engagement team for 7 years, and have been fortunate to be
a part of many projects varying in size and scale. I am looking forward to contributing to the
Westbrook Communities’ team and supporting a transparent and meaningful engagement process for
everyone.
