I strongly advise caution and recommend that all fruit is cut prior to consuming. This is most relevant for our school as we enjoy fruit break each day. Regal Visit On Friday our school was honoured with the visit of The NSW Governor; His Excellency General The Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Ret’d), Mrs Linda Hurley, the Hon. John Barilaro Deputy Premier and Member for Monaro, Executive Director, School Performance Mr Matthew Brown. This was an opportunity to showcase a sample of the outstanding programs offered at Queanbeyan West Public School. The dignitaries visited our newly established environmental programs, our support classes, the Creative and Performing Arts program; dance and choir and the Robotics and Coding programs. They were accompanied by our school captains; Tali Ingram and Tyson Tomsic. I was very proud of our school, our students and our staff. I hope you enjoy looking at the photos which reflects our learning journey. Crazy Hat day An amazing array of hats and hair today; our Crazy Hat day was very well supported. The event was suggested by the P&C raising funds to support class wish lists. Money raised from this event goes towards supporting our Environmental programs. Queanbeyan West Games Day We recognise and celebrate diversity at Queanbeyan West Public School. Early in Term Two, we will hold our own Invictus Games. Students will participate in groups throughout the day joining in various games and activities. Our games will open at 9.50am with an Opening ceremony to introduce and celebrate the spirit of Invictus and the inspiring resilience and outstanding achievements of the competitors. We are encouraging our students to come dressed in the colours represented by the country their class has adopted. A note went home yesterday with this information included. Gossip As a school we strive to improve our practices and work hard to ensure that our students are happy, safe and respected in the school environment. Our teachers are dedicated to providing high level experiences for our students both educationally and in the area of student wellbeing. It is disappointing when members of our community jump to conclusions or spread false accusations based on hearsay with only one side of the story communicated. We work hard to create a school community that is safe, respectful and supports successful learning. We try to resolve issues as quickly as we can, so that our students can learn in an environment where families and teachers work together to achieve the best outcomes. Sometimes, we may not be able to change what has happened or the investigating staff member will decide that the original decision was appropriate in the circumstances. Whatever the outcome, the investigating staff member will give you clear reasons for their decision. This may be in a meeting, by telephone or by email. If you have a concern about any aspect of our school, please contact us. We value your feedback and are committed to dealing with issues thoroughly and fairly. You can also let us know if you have any suggestions, or if you think we're doing something well. https://nsw.tellthemfromme.com/survey/splash/q wps Have a good week Mrs Vicki Muscat Principal The Westerly Queanbeyan West Public School P&C meets the first Tuesday of every Month at 7.00pm in the Library 100 Morton Street, Queanbeyan 2620 T 02 6297 2020 F 02 6299 4284 E [email protected] Issue 1—Term 3– Week 10 25 September 2018
