HOME SWEET WIUEnter the campus and drive to your residence hall by the route shown on the map. The routes are designed to reduce traffic bottlenecks and speed up your move-in time; however, during peak move-in times, you can expect an extended wait time. Follow instructions given by the Office of Public Safety (OPS) personnel who will be directing traffic.
When it’s your turn, OPS personnel will direct you to your residence hall. When you arrive at your residence hall, you’ll be greeted by our volunteer Move-In Crew in their gold shirts. If you would like a cart and assistance moving your belongings to your room, grab a number from them. You can also bring your own cart/dolly to assist with the move-in process. Your resident assistants and staff will be in their purple shirts.
MOVE-IN CREW SCHEDULE Friday, August 21 8:00 am - 7:00 pm
Saturday, August 22 8:00 am - 1:00 pm
Have family members begin to unload belongings to a drop off location. Once you’ve unloaded, you’ll be directed to stay with your belongings while another member of your party moves your vehicle to a designated parking lot. You will need to proceed to the check-in area to begin the check-in process.
CHECK-IN PROCESSHave your Student ID Number and STARS Password/Pin with you and ready. Proceed to the electronic check-in area where you will check in and receive your room key. Once you have checked in, you will go to your room and complete your Room Condition Report (RCR) and return it to the check-in area to receive additional keys.
When the Move-In Crew is ready, your number will be called, and you can begin to take your belongings to your room to set up and meet your new neighbors! If you don’t need the help of a cart or if you want to get started yourself, you and your family can feel free to begin moving your own belongings up to your room.

YOU’RE JUST A FEW STEPS AWAY FROM YOUR NEW HOME AT WIU. . . When you get to campus on Friday or Saturday of Fall Move-In:
SUGGESTED ARRIVAL TIMESPeak move-in times tend to be from 10 am to 3 pm. We encourage you to use the recommended target times to help distribute on-campus and move-in traffic. We try to spread out traffic based on your home’s proximity to campus. The times do not need to be strictly followed.
PARKING ON CAMPUSYou will be directed to designated parking areas on Move-In Day. Students who bring a vehicle to campus will need to register with Parking Services. Students without the
correct permit, parked in any lot (with the exception of Q lot) during restricted hours will be ticketed starting Monday, August 24, 2015. Q-lot permit enforcement will begin Monday, August 31, 2015. Permits are $50 and can be purchased in Mowbray Hall or reserved online at wiu.edu/parking.
YOUR ROOM View your residence hall room assignment and roommate contact information on STARS from the “UHDS Housing Information Menu” CUSTOMIZE YOUR SPACE
With some creativity and a little effort, you can quickly transform your room into “your space”, a “home away from home”. Painting, wallpaper, and drilling into the walls are not allowed, but get creative with removable hooks and sticky tack to hang your posters and photos. When you’re done decorating your room, show it off using #HomeSweetWIU.
