Course of Study for Year 10

All students at Year 10 level must take a core curriculum of: English, Mathematics and Statistics, Physical Education/Health, Science and Social Studies and they must select three subjects from the optional subjects. Use the information in this booklet to help you select your subjects. At this stage we advise you to take those subjects which you like best and which you feel you are good at. Take a variety of subjects; the following year you will start to specialise more. However some subjects must be taken at Year 10 if you want to continue to study them in the senior school. Some subject may offer an Achievement Standard during your Year 10 year. If you achieved the standard the credits are banked until your Year 11 year. Careers information is available in the library and from the careers staff. Option Selections When putting together your courses for 2017;

Make sure you understand the entry requirements for all of your courses

Students who have not met these requirements will usually not gain entry into the course. If entry requirements (prerequisites) are not met, you will have to study the course at a lower level, or choose another subject, especially as you move through into the senior school.

The school tries very hard to give you your first choice of courses; however it is not possible to offer every single combination of courses. It is important to meet the deadline for your subject choices.

If you do not submit your course choice form by the due date your choice of options may not be available
