Westlink M7 Shared Path andWestern Sydney Parklands
SafetyTo ensure everyone can enjoy using the shared path, all users need to look out for their own and each other’s safety and be courteous to all.
Key safety tips for everyone
> Keep to the left, unless overtaking
> Supervise children and ensure they keep to the left
> Keep dogs on a leash and under control at all times and clean up their waste
> Be aware that maintenance vehicles may be on the path
> Cyclists must give way to walkers and joggers, warn others on approach and slow down
> Cyclists need to ride to the conditions at a speed and distance that promotes safety for all and no more than 30 kph at any time and 5 kph at bends and underpasses or in the vicinity of maintenance vehicles or other users
> Wear reflective clothing at night
> If using the path in a group, remain within the marked lane, keep your group size small and allow others to pass comfortably
> Snakes can sometimes venture onto the shared path – advice from St John Ambulance is do not approach or try to catch or kill a snake. Wait until it has moved on
> If there is an emergency, ring 000 (or 112 if your phone provider is out of range) and you can also contact Westlink M7 on 9834 9200.

Please report any anti-social behaviour or incidents
Westlink M7 invests heavily in the shared path with regular safety inspections and extensive maintenance regimes as well as engaging the Police to patrol the path. However, incidents of anti-social behaviour and accidents can still occur.
Please call the Police/Ambulance on 000 (or 112 if your phone provider is out of range) and Westlink M7 on 9834 9200 to report any anti-social behaviour or incidents on the shared path.

The Westlink M7 shared path is unique. It is well lit, has over 60 entry/exit points and has its own bridges for an uninterrupted 40 kilometre trip stretching from Baulkham Hills in the north to Dean Park in the west and down to Prestons in the south.
This is a great facility for everyone to use for exercise, for recreation or to get to work.
UsersThe path is shared between walkers (including children and walkers with dogs), joggers and cyclists.
You may also come across authorised motor vehicles such as maintenance vehicles and Police Patrols who use the shared path regularly. Emergency services vehicles may also need to use the path.
Local historyHave you noticed that every so often there are plaques along the shared path giving you information about the local history. There are 20 panels in all – see how many you can find!
Water and toilet facilitiesIt can get very hot along the shared path so make sure you bring plenty of water with you. There is a drinking fountain located half way at #34 on the map.
The map indicates a range of locations where toilets may be found such as train stations and local shops as well as some of the facilities found in the Western Sydney Parklands picnic areas.
Events on the Westlink M7 Shared PathWestlink M7 supports a number of community events held on the Shared Path throughout the year including the annual Westlink M7 Cities Marathon and a number of charity fun rides/walks.
Anyone considering holding a large and/or advertised event utilising the Westlink M7 Shared Path needs to liaise with Westlink M7 as early as possible. Please contact us on 9834 9200.

Westlink M7 Shared Path
Western Sydney ParklandsThe extensive Western Sydney Parklands contain world class sporting facilities, popular picnic areas, native bushland and a range of cycling and walking tracks that link into the Westlink M7 Shared Path at various points along its 27 km from Quakers Hill to Leppington.
The map shows some of the picnic areas many of which are short distances from the Westlink M7 Shared Path such as Nurragingy Reserve at Doonside, Lizard Log at Abbotsbury (off The Horsley Drive) and the Plough and Harrow at Abbotsbury (off Elizabeth Drive).

Featherdale Wildlife ParkThe Featherdale Wildlife Park hosts a fascinating family of over 300 species of Australian mammals, birds and reptiles including koalas, kangaroos and even a 4.5 m Saltwater Crocodile. Multi award winning, Featherdale also runs a Wildlife Education program. The Park is located at Doonside and has an Aussie style café as well as BBQ and picnic areas you can use.

Blacktown International SportsparkDeveloped as a major playing and training venue for Athletics, Baseball and Softball for the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, Blacktown International Sportspark has continued to grow and develop, welcoming AFL, Cricket and the International Goalkeepers Academy over recent years.
The Park hosts a variety of international, national, state and regional sporting and community events including the finish line of the Westlink M7 Cities Marathon held annually on the last Sunday of July.

Calmsley Hill City FarmCalmsley Hill City Farm is a working farm where children and adults can enjoy watching a variety of farming activities such as sheep shearing and working dogs. Visitors can also get up close to a range of native and farmyard animals. As well as having a kiosk, you can bring your own picnic or BBQ in the grounds. Calmsley Hill also provides a range of sustainability education programs and is a private and corporate function destination.
