SafetyTo ensure everyone can enjoy using the shared path, all users need to look out for their own and each other’s safety and be courteous to all.

Key safety tips for everyone

> Keep to the left, unless overtaking

> Supervise children and ensure they keep to the left

> Keep dogs on a leash and under control at all times and clean up their waste

> Be aware that maintenance vehicles may be on the path

> Cyclists must give way to walkers and joggers, warn others on approach and slow down

> Cyclists need to ride to the conditions at a speed and distance that promotes safety for all and no more than 30 kph at any time and 5 kph at bends and underpasses or in the vicinity of maintenance vehicles or other users

> Wear reflective clothing at night

> If using the path in a group, remain within the marked lane, keep your group size small and allow others to pass comfortably

> Snakes can sometimes venture onto the shared path – advice from St John Ambulance is do not approach or try to catch or kill a snake. Wait until it has moved on

> If there is an emergency, ring 000 (or 112 if your phone provider is out of range) and you can also contact Westlink M7 on 9834 9200.
