Hey Mom, Hey DadA kid muses on what life would be like if he was calling the shots

My Mom and Dad said that Mother’s Day is May

8 and Father’s day is June 19! Dad said Mother’s Day means we should tell Mom we love her and give her a day at Spa

Sentio. Mom said that Father’s Day is when Dad gets to play bocce and drink beer at Orms-by’s. Parents are weird. If I was a Mommy or Daddy, I’d eat like 14 scoops of ice cream or maybe give my kids huge water blasters and let them TRY to drench me. But I guess I don’t mind too much if we celebrate Mother’s and Father’s day at Westside Provisions District. Rachel from Seed Factory always lets me color, and Chef Patric from West Egg makes the best cupcakes in the world. A day at WSPD almost makes the idea of growing up seem pretty cool.

In honor of Mother’s Day, Environment Furniture is excited

to offer 20% off their entire Heather Heron Collection. Known for its minimalist lines and eco-friendly furniture designs, Environment also carries great lifestyle accessories. Heather Heron, the first lifestyle line to be housed under the Environment label, uses organically tanned leather, surplus denim, antique textiles and Heron’s signature fabric - organic hemp textiles in all of her

creations. Shop for great deals for mom the week of May 3-7 including the Heather Heron Vintage Army

Handbag Collection, Stinson Scarf Collection and

Essential pouches in white, black, denim and orange. Mom might also like the Inverness Fringe Throw, Cortes Blanket or Big Sur Weekender Bag. Offer is good the week of May 3-7 only. For more information call 404-815-1488 or visit environment-furniture.com/atlanta.

Once a year, top Southeastern chefs, mixologists and local

farmers team up for a killer event, the Attack of the Killer Tomato Festival benefitting Georgia Organics. Held at JCT Kitchen and Bar on July 17, 2011, the event will treat 1,400 foodies to one of Atlanta’s best food events of the year.

Three of this year’s high profile judges are Food & Wine Restaurant Editor Kate Krader, CNN features editor Cybil Wallace and dietician/author

Carolyn O’Neil. Participating chefs include Linton Hopkins of Restaurant Eugene and Holeman & Finch, Kevin Gillespie of Woodfire Grill, Jay Swift of 4th & Swift, Carvel Grant Gould of Canoe, Jenny Levison of Souper Jenny, Matt Palmerlee of Farm 255, Zeb Stevenson of Livingston, Scott Serpas of Serpas True Food and Eddie Hernandez of Taqueria del Sol.

Bright OnGlobal wanderlust takes the ladies of ANN MASHBURN to France, India, Italy and Britain for fashion this spring

The ladies of ANN MASH-

BURN can’t get enough of bejeweled and befringed K. Jacques sandals from France, silk dresses by Calypso from In-dia, delicate Santa Maria Novella Italian perfumes, and British Butter London nail lacquers. Other favorites include Jenni Kayne’s military green lace shift mini dress, J Brand’s new Bette wide-legged jean and Oliver Peoples sunglasses.

Of course, ANN MASHBURN’s signature shirting continues to be an essential part of any wardrobe. Visit annmashburn.com to join Ann’s mailing list and stay in the know about all things ANN MASHBURN.

For Dad: Tokens & Icons wallets, bottle openers and cuff links from Terra Cottage or wooden magnifying glasses from Bungalow.

For Mom: Beautiful candles handcrafted by Perrine Prieur or faux Phalaenopsis or-chids and lovely Tourron Pottery from Bun-galow Classic.

For both: Stainless Steel tiki torches by Blomus at Kolo Collection, weathered wheel mirrors from Savvy Snoot, Two-for-one pri-vate sessions and classes at CORE Westside (Mothers & Fathers day weekends only), and - always a classic - fresh cut flowers or custom terrariums from GARDEN.

Here are just a few of our favorite things this season for Mother’s and Father’s day.

Page 5: Westside Provisions District

Show Mama the love with a special brunch, lunch or supper this Mother’s

day. You’ll find an option to fit any mood or budget at Westside Provisions Dis-trict. Wake Mom up with a West Egg Café brunch, complete with daily specials, cocktails and maybe even a house-made red velvet whoopie pie. Brunch is served 8am to 5pm every weekend. Or, surprise Mom with a special prix fixe Mother’s Day luncheon at James Beard award winner Bacchanalia. ($65 per person, 12pm to 4pm Sunday May 8.) Better yet, bring the whole family for gourmet southern com-fort food served family style at JCT’s “Sunday Supper,” only $24 per person.

For Father’s Day, give Pops a night out at Ormsby’s. This neighborhood tavern offers an extensive craft beer selec-tion, a fresh pub menu and a wide range of diversions such as bocce ball, shuf-fleboard and backgammon to keep the old man feeling young.

Faces of Westside Provisions DistrictMeet WSPD Marketing Assistant Lindalisa Severo, proud Italian, diehard Yankee fan, site director of LegalOut.com, Downtown/Westside resident and devotee of all things Westside

Q: What is your favorite thing to do on the Westside?

A: I love hanging out with my friends on an outdoor patio. Some of my favorite Westside patio pasttimes are the rooftop bar at 5 Seasons Brewing Company, Weiner Wednesdays at JCT, pasta with Siciliana sauce at Figo and coffee and treats at West Egg Café.

Q: Got any hobbies?

A: Many! I played softball in college, so I enjoy playing in the Decatur Softball League. I am also a big fan of the beltline and of going on urban hikes. Trying new microbrews is one of my favorite things; Kraig at Hop City is great about suggesting beers that match my mood. I’ve also been known to play a mean game of bocce at Ormsby’s

Q: Any parting words?

A: “Westside is the best side” (giggling ensues)

The High Museum’s Artful Garden tour is a springtime highlight in Atlanta. With Plein-

air painters working in the gardens and local artists showcasing their designs, the Artful Garden tour is as much about celebrating art as it is about celebrating Atlanta’s beautiful springtime colors. This year’s tour takes place on Saturday May 14 from 10am to 5pm. To kick off the tour, the High is holding an Urban Chic Garden Party at WSPD on May 12 from 7pm to 10pm. With live music, complementary beer and wine, a signature cocktail, silent auction and appetizers from all the WSPD restaurants, the Urban Chic Garden Party promises a good time for a good cause. Tickets are $30 and are available at high.org/gardentour.

Sustainable décor isn’t limited to homes constructed from recycled PET bottles or low-

impact woodland shelters dug into hillsides. Eco-friendly décor spans the gamut from high design to family friendly. Kolo Collection carries two lines of furniture that fit into the “green” scene. Loll Designs (lolldesigns.com) from Minnesota features durable furniture and cool designs made from 100% post consumer HDPE - milk jugs. Jensen Leisure (jensenleisurefurniture.com) creates durable and stylish furniture from 100% FSC certified Ipé wood (pronounced e-pay). The wood is harvested from a 2.5 million acre forest on a 25 year rotation that in essence creates an infinite supply of timber.

Atlanta’s first Food & Wine Festival is right around the

corner this May 19-22.

One of the most highly anticipated events of the festival is “Pig Out Texas Style,” a good old-fashioned Pig Roast where good food, great drinks and Southern music reign supreme. Featuring chef Tim Love from The Lonesome Dove Western Bistro

and The Love Shack, chef Ford Fry of JCT Kitchen and mixologist Dale DeGroff (King Cocktail,) the event is $100 per person. If you’ve purchased the “Connoisseur” pass to the Food & Wine festival, your ticket is already included. 3-Day package holders have access to discounted tickets.
