May 11 @ 2:00-4:00 PM Westwood Public Library
Sponsored by the Westwood Environmental Action Committee (WEAC)
TidalShift illustrates marine wildlife mistaking plastic bags for food, especially
sea turtles hunting jellyfish.
All ages are welcome to join us for this fun family project that raises awareness about pollution from
plastic bags and the harm they can cause to wildlife, like sea turtles, when they end up in our oceans.
We will hear a short presentation by Claudia
Paraschiv, a Salem-based artist who created Tidal Shift, and then we will turn discarded plastic bags into
"jellyfish" that will be hung in a display at the library. Please bring any plastic bags that you have at home.
WEAC and the Westwood Select Board have designated May as
Westwood's official "Bring Your Own Bag Month. Say "no" to single-use
plastic and paper bags, bring reusable bags instead when you shop.
It's a simple way to save trees and keep plastics out of the oceans!
