Hello fellow pond people, The Koi Show & Auction was a success! Even though attendance and auction items were down the club did better this year! A great big thank you goes out to all that made this year’s Koi Show possible - our members who attended the auction, the members that donated items, to those who donated their time to help set up and teardown, to those members that showed fish and to those who donated baskets. A special thank you to Jeff, Cheryl and the entire staff at Arbordale Nursery for accommodating all our crazy requests. The following page shows our corporate sponsors who gave generously to our event. Please keep them in mind when looking to purchase anything new. Support those that support us, once again thank you! Hello,

Meaghan Boice-Green, of Reinstein Woods, will be our

speaker this Friday. She will be speaking about native plants at

Reinstein Woods. We will also be handing out awards for koi

show participation and people’s choice.

The following is a proposed amendment to the

NFKPC by-laws

“Any item donated to the NFKPC for auction becomes the sole

property of the NFKPC. Items entered in the auction CAN NOT

be withdrawn after entry, given preferential treatment at the time

of the auction, buyer restrictions or exemptions. This is to en-

sure a fair and open auction for all members and the public.”

Due to non-participation, and nonpayment of dues, there

is now a spot open on the board. Please step up and

get involved and let us know at the next meeting.

Koi of the Month

Utsurimono (Ut-sur-e-mono)

Utsurimono (Ut-sur-e-mono)

These are black (kuro) koi with all red (Hi) or all white (shiro) with an all red (hi) pattern. You do not see these in great numbers at koi shows.

Three styles that can be seen at Koi Shows would be:

Shiro Utsuri (She-roe-ut-sue-ree) This koi appears to be black with a pattern of white.

Hi Utsuri (He-ut-sue-ree) This is a koi that is black with a pattern of red.

Ki Utsuri (Key-ut-sue-ree) This is a Koi that is black with a pattern of yellow.

At a recent Board of Directors meeting it was decided that they would be offering an incentive for members to get more involved.

So any member that does one of the following will receive a ticket to the gift card drawings that occur during the meetings.

Members that volunteer:

Spend 2 hrs. at a club activity

Donate to the raffle table

Write an article for the newsletter

***Please note: We still must

sell a minimum amount of $50

in tickets to cover the gift

cards prior to drawing.
