Amphibians

soft eggs. The eggs hatch into tadpoles.
They start life in the water,
but live their adult life on the land.
A frog is an amphibian.
Toads are amphibians.
Newts are amphibians, too.
This is the Emperor newt.
This is a newt with her eggs.
Salamanders are amphibians.
All amphibians hatch from eggs.
The eggs
have a
soft,
jelly like, shell.
Amphibians must lay their eggs in water.
The water keeps the eggs wet.
If they laid their eggs on land the sun would dry them out
and no tadpoles would hatch.
Look closely.

They are
about to hatch.
Tadpoles are tiny when they hatch.
All baby amphibians are called tadpoles.
