ABA students may choose one concentration. They must take the first two courses listed within that concentration. BBA students may choose up to three concentrations, and all four courses are required.

Certificates in Business ConcentrationsEnhance your current degree by earning a certificate in one of our eight business concentrations. Students have the opportunity to focus on learning additional high-value skills, practices, and concepts that will help them advance their careers, ultimately bringing added value to their employer. Each concentration contains four courses, taken two at a time in two 8-week sessions — completed within one academic semester. Classes are facilitated as a combination of face-to-face and online interactions and typically meet one night a week.

Human Resources ManagementThis concentration will provide students with the foundational skills and concepts needed in the industry. Students will be exposed to the wide range of responsibilities that fall under human resources and gain an understanding of various issues faced in different industries, with an overall focus on soft skills, ethics, and cultural awareness. Students will also study legal issues faced by managers in the modern workplace and gain the tools on how to leverage technology in an HR office.

Marian’s Adult Programs takes real-world learning to a new level. The majority of the concentrations are partnered with an area business or non-profit to work on a project. Students learn while helping our community by providing creative solutions for actual operational and marketing challenges. Some of our partner projects have included:

• Recommending fundraising ideas for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, • Developing a promotional video for Indy Parks, • Creating a marketing plan for Youth Philanthropy Initiative of Indiana, and • Organizing a career fair for the Indy Fuel.

Business TechnologyThe Business Technology concentration immerses studentsin systems analysis, fundamental areas of internet websitedevelopment and design through lecture, application, andproject completion. Current event topics are also incorporated into the curriculum, such as cloud computing and robotics.

Project ManagementStudents examine business project management methodologies used to effectively plan, direct, and control project activities to achieve schedule, budget and performance objectives. MarketingMarketing concentration students will study the tools and techniques of promotional strategies and the elements of the complete selling function, from communication to motivation to ethical and legal issues, including the buying process and personal sales. Meeting and Event PlanningStudents in the Meeting and Event Planning concentration will be exposed to the strategies and desired skill sets that are required in coordinating meetings and events. Fundraising ManagementStudents examine theories and concepts of fundraising and recognize technology as a vital tool within thefundraising initiative. They will also study perspectives from highly successful fundraisers and philanthropists on how to identify, engage, and solicit donations and recognize the “ask” as both an art and a science. Students will study Corporate Social Responsibility and be able to understand the potential impacts of CSR on business.

It is an interdisciplinary study that works to prevent and address problems for betteroverall quality of life. Earn your Bachelor of Science degree in nursing with the RN to BSN program.

Online Nursing and Healthcare PrerequisitesAre you considering a career in the healthcare industry? Most universities require students to successfully pass prerequisite courses before they apply to nursing and other healthcare related programs. Marian’s Adult Programs (MAP) at Marian University is your one-stop shop for all your prerequisite needs.

Learn Online. Each course is completed online, the majority of which use electronic textbooks, making it easier to take notes, highlight, and search for information.

Courses are fully online, so you will not need to take proctored tests. While each instructor may conduct his/her class differently, there are windows of time when you may complete exams, labs, and quizzes.

Choose Classes That Fit Your Schedule. Online classes are either fi ve or eight weeks in length, and students may take one or two classes at a time. With classes beginning 12 different times each year, you’ll fi nd the right classat the right time, so you can complete your prerequisites sooner.
