brand? According to Marty Nuemeier your brand “is not what you say it is.. it is what they say it is.” (The Brand Gap) Your brand is your clients’ perceptions about your products and services. If you don’t know what your clients think about you, don’t guess. Ask them. They will tell you how the public sees your company. Their perception is the basis of your brand identity.Having a good understanding about your brand will help you build upon its strongest points. Your brand should be designed in a way that accentuates the positives, showing

your brand in a way that the public will find it immediately recognizable. Ari can help you determine the aesthetic aspects that will best help you succeed. Color theory can assist you in choosing a palette that will support your company’s image. Typography can make or break your brand. LogoYour logo can

consist of words, an image, or a combina-tion of both. It is a mark that is used to identify your company. For web-based logos moving avatars can take the place of static images. Ari will use the colors, type-faces, and images you have chosen to develop an original logo, which will become identified with your company or product. Ari uses the iterative pro-cess, which means that he will draw out many ideas until he gets rid of all the cliche ones, so he can arrive at more innovative concepts. Using that process ensures that Ari’s clients have original logos that are strong branding tools. Your logo can become the central piece around which your brand identity can be developed.

Public Wonders: What can Ari do for my business?

Market researchAri Sutton can

conduct re-search to figure out which aspects of your brand should be emphasized. He explores the market to determine the nature of your tar-get audience, and

your brand’s com-petitive stance in the marketplace. Ari will develop a SWOT analysis to help you determine what your advantages and disadvantages are, and he will de-velop a marketing

plan to help mini-mize your weak-nesses, and maxi-mize your strengths. Design research will become the key to developing an ef-fective campaign.

Style Manual

Once all of the design ele-ments have been chosen

for your brand, and the logo is de-veloped, Ari can create a style manual.

It will ensure that any designer can work on your brand without changing

your brand identity, because it sets the standards that must be fol-

lowed in all brand decisions.

CollateralDesigns:What are they and how can they help?

These include any designs

that can be used to help sell your main products or services. Collateral design includes tags, labels, shopping bags, ap-parel with the com-

pany logo, statio-nery, signage, auto graphics, and so much more. Ari can help you determine which kinds of col-lateral designs will work best to pro-mote your business. Ari can design products to

advertise your brand

Print AdvertisingThere are many kinds of

print ads that can be developed in your brand’s style. Some of these include:Magazine AdsNewspaper AdsFlyersBrochuresBusiness CardsNewslettersCatalogs

GuidesPost CardsBillboardsEach type has benefits depend-ing upon your target audience, and your company’s advertis-ing budget. Ari can help you decide what kind of advertis-ing is best for your business so that you get the most return for your advertising dollars.

Web/Electronic AdvertisingAnother area

to explore for reaching your target market-base is elec-tronic advertising. It can come in the

form of Websites, Banner Ads, eBooks, Apps for Mobile Devices, and so much more. These kinds of ads can

be more engaging because they can employ interactive features. Explore the web’s marketing potential with Ari.

Training MaterialsAri special-

izes in using emerging tech-nologies to present education materials. Whether you need training materials for K-12 students, or

for corporate em-ployees, your cur-riculum can become more engaging if you let Ari design the medium that will be used to de-liver the materials.

Writing and Communications

Large corpora-tions have

both internal and external commu-nications depart-ments. Internal

communications typically create documents for informing employ-ees about policy changes. They take employee surveys to ensure that policies and pro-cedures are being followed. External communications are intended for audi-

ences outside the organization. They include marketing materials, client surveys, and other business corre-spondence. Ari can use his writing and design expertise to help your manage your internal and external commu-nications efforts.

Ari can also work for your

company as a con-sultant to help you make the appropri-ate brand, design,

and communica-tions decisions. Using Ari Sutton as a consultant can help prevent costly errors in your mar-

keting strategies. Large corporations have the ability to have writers and designers on staff. They may even

have a CBO — Chief Branding Officer to help with all deci-sions that relate to the company’s brand. Smaller

companies don’t have that luxury, so it is crucial to have a design and brand-ing consultant at your disposal so you

can operate your small business with the same certainty that larger corpora-tions do for a frac-tion of the cost.
