Power

By: Destiny Stewart

Who are we talking about????

• Never in the history of the world has one man, or one single human being, been able to cause as much chaos, destruction , and death, as ALDOLF HITLER who was the ruler of Germany from 1933 to 1945. As leader of The National Socialist German Workers’ Party or B.K.A The Nazis, he tortured Europe for almost 10 years before finally sending countries from all over the world

into what is known as the worst war of all time: World War II

Adolf Hitler

The man who was said to have killed millions.

Hitler and World War I

• Adolf Hitler, at the age of 25, found a new home fighting for Germany in the cramped, lice infested, muddy trenches of World War I. Volunteers from Europe and England, including Hitler, readily prepared for what they thought would be a short, exciting, and adventurous war. They would sadly be mistaken.

• Hitler, as rough as the war times were, he never complained about the conditions. His fellow soldiers described him as “Too eager to please his superiors but a likable person.”

• The war ended with the Germans being defeated.

Maps Of Germany….

• Germany had lots of different little cities. As you can see

Hitler ready for battle……

Hitler is the one without the hat on the far end, with the funny looking mustache.

More on the war(and Hitler)…

• On June 28, 1919, The Treaty of Versailles was signed and under the terms of the treaty Germany by itself was forced to except full responsibility for causing the war.

• They had to pay HUGE reparations for all the damage and they lost land to Poland.

• In the years to come, Hitler would speak against the treaty and gain much support. He discovered that he could speak well in front of large audiences and keep their attention, and sway them to his point if view.

• He led many soldiers to believe that Jews were the cause of all their misfortunes.

• In September of 1919 he was ordered to investigate The German Workers’ Party, or the Nazis. The next year he became their leader.

Treaty of Versailles (Primary Source)

• The Treaty of Versailles was signed by the victorious Allies.• Under the terms of the treaty, Germany alone was forced to accept

FULL responsibility for starting the war.• They had to pay a lot of reparations.• For Germany it was humiliating.

The uprising of Hitler and the Nazis(“The Beer Hall Putsch”)

• During the years of 1921-1923 a series of financial events would push the Nazis to new height and would tempt Hitler to take over Germany.

• During those years Germans lost life savings, hunger riots broke out, groceries became increasingly expensive.

• November 8, 1923, the Nazis with 55,000 followers were the biggest and best organized. Hitler knew he would lose the leadership of of his party if he didn’t act fast. Putsch means minor revolt. They came up with a plan to kidnap the leaders of the Bavarian government and force them at gunpoint to except Hitler as their leader. This plan was done in the Beer Hall Putsch. He threatened to kill himself if things didn’t happen the way he wanted them to.

• However the next day the Putsch was over and Hitler didn’t kill himself, instead he was arrested, tried and sentenced to 5 years in prison. It is in prison where he wrote Mein Kampf.

Hitler as the Fuhrer of the Nazis

.Fuhrer means Leader. He was leader of the Nazis and for several years would be the Fuhrer of Germany.

He thinks he’s the Mannnnnnnnnnn!!!!!!!!!!

The Quiet Times • After about 9 months in prison, Hitler was released and

despite their setbacks the Nazis were not finished.• In the year 1925 Germany made an terrific

recovery.Nobody went hungry, and work was available. For Adolf these were hard times. He and his party were being ignored and few people took his autobiography seriously.

• He described the quiet times were one of the happiest times of his life.

• During this time he also met and fell in love with Geli, who was a 20 year old girl and was his step sister’s daughter. The relationship would ultimately end in tragedy, because she ended up committing suicide.

Geli Raubal

• She was Hitler’s stepsister’s daughter and she was 20 years old. She was his niece and he was forty when he took interest in Geli.

• She loved Hitler’s new found fame.

• She became annoyed with his campaigning so she shot herself in the heart with a pistol.

This is a picture of Geli as a teen.

The Great Depression

• When the Great Depression arrived once again, Germans were laid off, and savings accounts were instantly wiped out and inflation took over the many parts of the country.

• Adolf Hitler saw this as his opportunity. Since the failed Beer Hall Putsch plan, Hitler changed his tactics. Now he was determined to over throw the government by legally becoming elected.

• By the mid-1930 pressures of the Great Depression was forcing the government to unravel.

• Germans became tired of “Political Haggling” and they were tired of having to suffer. They were willing to listen to anyone, including Adolf Hitler.

• So Hitler gave the Germans what they wanted, Encouragement. He proposed promises while leaving out the details.

Hitler runs 4 President• However in that same year he reluctantly agreed to run

again and Hitler decided he would run against him for the chance to be president.

• The Nazis campaigned every where. With rallies, pictures and other things. President Hindenburg did nothing because he relied on his reputation to help him.

• In 1932 there was supposed to be a presidential election, but Hindenburg, Germany’s ruler at the time said he was not interested in running again.

• March 13 1932, he got over 11 million votes, but he still lost. They decided to have run-off election. Hitler received 2million more votes than previously, but it still wasn’t enough to win.

Joseph Goebbles

• He became one of Hitler’s good friends. He in listed in the army, but was refused. So he became a writer. When he couldn’t find a publisher he blamed it on the Jews.

• He believed that one day Hitler could be king.• They admired each other’s abilities to write and

publicly speak.• On May 1, 1945, Joseph, his wife and his six

children committed suicide.

Joseph Goebbles

• Hitler’s friend…….

Pictures of him during the years………………………

Hitler and the Holocaust

• Approximately 11 million people were killed because of Hitler’s genocidal policy and his Nazi regime led to the death of over SIX MILLION JEWS!!!!! During the Holocaust.

Was Hitler Jewish?????

• There is suspicion that Hitler’s GRANDFATHER was Jewish. There is a chance that he got a Jewish girl (Hitler's grandmother) pregnant. But Adolf Hitler is not Jewish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
