What is 600e What is 600e DPI?DPI?
Does RISO’s RZ Series 600e dpi resolution actually meet a 600 x 600 dpi specification?
The simple answer is YES! But we should be clear that 600e dpi actually emulates true 600 x 600 dpi.
600 dots

otsIf a 1” square area were completely
filled with dots, there would be 600 dots across and 600 dots down.
600 Dots Per Inch600 Dots Per Inch
True 600 dpi Each dot is individually controlled (both across and down) and
perforated in the master where required to complete an image.
600e dpi Dots are individually perforated down the image (true 600 dpi)
Dots are perforated in pairs across the image, emulating true 600 dpi.
An algorithm is used to determine whether to burn a pair of dots in a specific location to replicate the scanned image. While they are controlled in pairs across the image, the size of the dots is exactly the same in both directions which results in better output.
What’s the Difference?What’s the Difference?
The more dots there are in a defined area, the smaller the dots will be resulting in higher resolution and smoother edges.

What happens?
600e positions the dots in pairs. An algorithm is used to decide where the pairs should be placed. The pink dots have been dropped and the light blue dots have been added to complete a pair.

Q & AQ & A Are the RZ310, RZ390, and RZ590 600dpi machines?
Yes. They create 600 holes in each direction in a 1 inch area but, in one direction (across) the holes are perforated in pairs emulating true 600 dpi.
Are the RZ310, RZ390, and RZ590 true 600dpi machines? They are 600dpi machines, but control dots in pairs across the image, rather than single dots which is why we refer to it as 600e-dpi. In other words, depending on the image, you might see some differences.
What difference will you experience by comparing a 600e-dpi to a true 600dpi image? You will see little difference when you compare standard text documents. However, you will see some difference when comparing fine lines and pictures. Overall, the image quality of 600e-dpi is better than true 300dpi, but less than true 600dpi image.
How much is the image improved from a RN machine?RN resolution is 400dpi x 300dpi, creating 120,000 dots in 1 square inch area. The RZ310 and above has 600e-dpi x 600dpi resolution, capable of creating 360,000 in 1 square inch area, and controlling 180,000 pairs of dots. The more dots there are in a defined area the better the quality of the output.
Thank you!Thank you!
Four of us are better than one of you!
Remember:The more dots per inch, the higher the resolution. The higher the resolution the better the image!
