Action and attitude towards
liberating society from glamorizing
drunkennessand
alcohol.
Booze Rebellion (in Finnish: Kännikapina) is a project of Finnish NGO The Friends of Temperance“. Volunteers with various
backgrounds have been actively involved.
Booze Rebellion questions the role
of alcohol in our society.
The Rebellion’s goal is a society where it is easy to
be social and sober and where
drinking is not encouraged by peer pressure or
advertising and media.
The majority (75 %) of EU citizens agree that alcohol advertising targeting at young people should be banned in all Member States.
In many other countries, e.g. in Finland, the use of elements attractive to youngsters is allowed (for example cartoons, music, humor, partyfeeling, competitions, etc.)
In Sweden only product information is allowed in alcohol marketing. In printed advertisements warning text is mandatory.
Alcohol marketing encourages teenagers to start alcohol use younger and seduces those who
already have started to consume even more.
