Let’s do some Engineering!

Page 14: What is Engineering?

Crash-Test Egg!• Challenge: Design & build a helmet for your egg to

prevent “injury” upon impact• Suggestions:

– TALK briefly about ideas first– LISTEN to everyone in your group– Work together as a TEAM

• Constraints:– Limited time & materials– Eggs will be dropped from 2-2.5m– Helmet must fit INSIDE ziplock bag– You ONLY GET 1 EGG– You CAN’T TEST BEFORE OFFICIAL TESTING

The Strongest Structure

• Challenge: Design & build a structure from which you will hang a cup filled with heavy stuff…without tipping over!

• Suggestions:– TALK briefly about ideas first– LISTEN to everyone in your group– Work together as a TEAM

• Constraints:– Limited time & materials– Structure must be able to hold the cup and

contents without tipping over– You CAN TEST BEFORE OFFICIAL TESTING
