The program will offer students the opportunity to explore the exciting
field of forensic science through hands-on
experiences as they relate to the application of scientific studies and physical evidence. This new Academy will bring
together different modalities of forensic
investigation and examine career pathways that incorporate scientific
inquiry through observation, collection,
and classification of data, examining relationships,
forming and testing hypotheses and reading
conclusions. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to continue
this theme of study through the new Forensic Investigative Academy (FIA) Program at Miami Palmetto
Senior High School.

Once a completed application is received, eligibility will be determined when the number of eligible applicants exceeds the number of spaces available. Welcome to the Forensic Science Academy (FSA) at Palmetto Middle School
The FSA provides students with a unique, project-centered approach to learning. Students will gain exposure to curriculum directly related to the �eld of forensics through this exciting program. At the beginning of each school year, students will develop a problem of practice related to the �eld of forensics. Through the course of the school year, students will research and explore their approved topic in order to produce a capstone, multi-media presentation which will showcase their learning experiences at the conclusion of the academic year.Exposure to the rigorous academics o�ered through the FSA will fast track students as they obtain the eligibility requirements necessary for acceptance into premier high school programs such as:
The curriculum fueling the FSA is centered on project-based and inquiry learning.
Science: Students will engage in an advanced, integrated approach to science and laboratory research skills leading to honors level high school
Technology: Students will utilize advanced technology to collect and interpret evidence, as well as present forensic-based conclusions.
Students will engage in advanced problem solving using number sense, probability, and the tenets of statistics leading to honors level
Geometry.
Legal Studies: Students will engage in authentic research necessary to try cases in court through the forensic science lens, but will also gain genuine exposure to some of the career possibilities which link forensics and the legal �eld.
Forensic Studies: Students will examine how forensic science is used to not only solve individual cases but how it is ultimately utilized to shed light on crimes against humanity.
