• Earth’s surfaces and processes that shape it

• relationships between humans and physical environments

In small groups, decide what kinds of things we might be studying in Geography.

• “where”, “why”, “what” , “who” & “how”

• Primary information (surveys, fieldwork, fieldtrips)

• Secondary information (variety of sources like newspapers, reports, photographs, etc.)

• Locate, collect, observe & record information

3. Organise information

• Sorting and presenting the information in the forms of tables, charts, maps, diagrams or graphs

Describe and explain how the Quality of Life of the People in the photo is being affected.

Task 1: Write this into your books• We can split Geography into 3 main parts• Human Geography: the study of where and how

people live e.g. housing• Physical Geography: the study of natural features

of the world. Eg. Landscapes, weather, hazards• Environmental Geography: This studies how

humans interact with their physical surroundings. E.g. pollution

• Skills: This involves the use of maps and other ways to present information

• Task 2: Odd one out – try this for human Geography.

Describing photos

• Some places have more physical and others have more human features.

• We can look at photos and describe them according to what is in them

• 1. find key points and annotate the photo.

• 2. Say what is in different parts of the photo and use the key points in the description.

• Try it with the following photos.
