Ideas Match Employee’s Donations on GivingTuesday Do you offer to match donations throughout the year? If so, you can choose to match even more, perhaps up to $2 for every $1. To help make this easy, Sepsis Alliance can create a custom donate page for you, so you can see exactly how much was raised. You could offer to match dollar for dollar, or up to a certain amount. Offering to match donations encourages even more giving. Pay it Forward Give each employee an allowance and ask them to pay it forward to their organization of choice. Create a Contest A little friendly competition can go a long way, especially when it’s for good! See which team can be the most generous on GivingTuesday, and reward them with a special treat on Wednesday. Even better, surprise the whole office by rewarding everyone, and not just the winning team. We can help by setting up a custom donation page with team designations! Challenge Employees Think about what inspires your employees. Will they give out of pure generosity? Of course. Will they give more if they get to take an afternoon off work, enjoy a pizza party lunch, or see a senior leader shave their head? Of course! Think of fun ideas, then challenge your employees to help you reach a certain goal. If the goal is met, the challenge offer is completed.

Critical Success Factors Get Executives Involved The best way to promote a culture of philanthropy is to lead by example. Make sure executives are on board and will participate. Be Inclusive Understanding that different financial situations may prevent some from being able to give donations, also encourage giving in other ways, like volunteering their time and talents. Communicate Be sure to communicate your participation in GivingTuesday to all employees, and even customers if appropriate. Start at least a few weeks early so they have time to prepare. Use email, daily announcement newsletters, and social media to prep your team. Say Thank You Thank you’s never hurt. Make sure to thank them in advance, and especially after GivingTuesday is over.

Communications Templates Email #1 Dear TEAM, GivingTuesday is right around the corner, and we want to go BIG this year! One thing we know is that all of you are generous, inspirational individuals. This year, we want to inspire our communities by giving to a cause important to us. We have chosen to support Sepsis Alliance this GivingTuesday, and we hope you will join us. Sepsis Alliance is the leading sepsis organization in the US. As a not-for-profit, they work hard to develop critical education for healthcare providers, and resources for sepsis patients and their families. They offer their valuable tools FREE because of generous donations from individuals like you. As a company, COMPANY NAME supports Sepsis Alliance through initiatives like INSERT HERE (i.e. Sepsis Coordinator Network, educational webinars, Sepsis Heroes, events.) We believe in their mission to save lives and reduce suffering from sepsis, and we hope you do too. Please join us in participating in GivingTuesday by making a gift to Sepsis Alliance on December 3. GivingTuesday represents the idea that we can all come together to create change by celebrating generosity. To further encourage your participation, COMPANY NAME has pledged to match every gift to Sepsis Alliance on GivingTuesday, dollar for dollar. Mark your calendars and give on December 3!

Email #2 Dear TEAM, GivingTuesday, on December 3 this year, was founded as a simple idea: to bring people together for a day of giving back. COMPANY NAME believes in instilling a culture of philanthropy, and we hope you will join us in celebrating GivingTuesday this year. COMPANY name will be supporting Sepsis Alliance by giving a gift on your behalf. Giving makes us feel good (it’s science) so we hope you will choose to give also, either to Sepsis Alliance, or your charity of choice. We will have a GivingTuesday board located INSERT LOCATION (kitchen, lobby etc.) where you can write a message about why you are giving. We will host an employee lunch on Tuesday to bring us all together around two things that bring us joy – giving and pizza! During lunch we will have an open discussion about the charities we choose to support, plus there will be some really cool prizes you might be able to win. Even if you can’t give a financial gift this year, you can give back in other ways, like volunteering your time and talent to those in need. No matter how you choose to celebrate, we want to hear about it! Please join us on GivingTuesday. For more information about Sepsis Alliance, please visit sepsis.org. See you on December 3! p.s. the white board will be in LOCATION staring on DATE
