Google Docs originated from two separate products, Writely and Google Spreadsheets. Writely was a web-based word processor created by the software company Upstartle and launched in August 2005. Spreadsheets, launched as Google Labs Spreadsheets on June 6, 2006,originated from the acquisition of the XL2Web product by 2Web Technologies. Writely's original features included a collaborative text editing suite and access controls. Menus, keyboard shortcuts, and dialog boxes are similar to what users may expect in a desktop word processor such as Microsoft Word or OpenOffice.org Writer.
Google Docs is a free, Web-based office suite, and data storage service offered by Google. It is also an open source service that allows users to use word document , presentation and spreadsheets online and it provides the opportunity for sharing files and making instantaneous changes. 2. Share in the work load.-The manager can put files to be modified more than employees and colleagues can also work, including participation among some in the modification or development of Notes.
3. Upload and download files in various formats.- In Google Docs you can Upload and download files different formats, such as Word processing, Presentation, Drawing and Form.
1. Everything online.
-All your files are saved within Google Docs, and are on the
internet. This means you can access them from any computer, as
long as it has a connection to the net, and a reasonably.
2. Sharing
-There are advantages to this way of working though. One is the
ability to share documents online using Google Docs. You can
keep document private or make them viewable by people you
specify, or even make them viewable by any one. Just choose the
right setting, then send people the link.
3. Good form
-The spreadsheets application has a neat additional feature called
forms, which is dead handy. You can create a form, which has its
own webpage and link, or which you can embed in any other
webpage you like. When people complete the form and press
submit, all the deals go straight into a Google Docs spreadsheet for
analysis.
4. Export
-Finally, you can export any document from Google Docs onto your
computer, so you can do some fancy formatting, or distribute in
another format such as PDF, Word, Open Office, or good old plain
text.
