Can you tick these two questions?

2: Do you have a motorhome or caravan? [4]

Then come and enjoy the company and the camaraderie of fellow Rotarians in one of the longest established and most successful of Rotary Fellowships.

ROTARY FELLOWSHIPSOne of the longest lasting Rotary Fellowships is ICFR, the International Caravanning Fellowship of Rotarians.

ICFR was started in 1967 by a group of British Rotarians who decided to travel with their caravans to the RI convention at Nice in France. Since 1967 similar Rotary Fellowships have been established all over the globe, ICFR-NZ in New Zealand, the RVFR (Recreational Vehicle Fellowship of Rotarians - Australia) and the RVF (Recreational Vehicle Fellowship of Rotarians in North America).

In the southern hemisphere Rotarians in Australia and New Zealand have musters, while in the northern hemisphere, on both sides of the Atlantic, we have rallies. Musters; rallies; two different words but one simple concept... Fun and fellowship with fellow Rotarians using your own caravan or motorhome.

RALLIESLOCAL

We have about 25 local rallies each year. These smaller rallies are organised by local Rotarians who are able to use their local knowledge to our advantage. They generally last for five nights and involve 12 to 30 units (i.e. 24 to 60 people).

NATIONAL We also organise a couple of larger national rallies with unlimited numbers, perhaps ranging up to 150 people at an AGM rally.

CONFERENCEWhen there is sufficient interest we endeavour to organise rallies to coincide with RI or RIBI conferences.

EUROPEANEach year we usually have three or four continental rallies, with France and Germany being the most popular destinations.

INTERCONTINENTALEvery few years we have an intercontinental fly/hire rally. Our 2017 trip had nearly forty British and South African Rotarians and partners touring South Africa. Other destinations have included New Zealand and North America.

WHAT DO YOU NEED?Definitely:

● A caravan or motorhome; ● £10 for your annual subscription;

Preferably: ● Enthusiasm for encountering new people

and visiting new places.

What do you get for your £10? ● The opportunity to go on ICFR rallies; ● Our magazine, News & Views, twice a year; ● Lots of fun and fellowship.

MEMBERSHIPMembership of ICFR is open to Rotarians and their partners, to family members of Rotarians and to Rotary alumni.

Our current membership numbers of over 800 are well above the average (500+) for other Rotary fellowships.

In 2016 we registered 2,896 unit-nights on our rallies. Since most units contain two people that amounts to over 5,500 person-nights – which is certainly not bad as a measure of member participation!
