Windows Movie Maker is a fun and easy to use video editing program that allows you to make home movies,
automated photo albums and business presentations. It is included as part of the Windows XP operating
system.

In Windows Movie Maker or other movie making software, the storyboard is an editing area located at the
bottom of the window. It is a panel of pictures or other movie clips, laid out in the se$uence that will beshown in the movie.

single pictures are run in succession to produce what appears to be a seamless piece of film or videotape. achframe can be selected on its own to print out a single photograph.

pictures and music to create our movie.
. -lick on +mport pictures and locate the folder containing your pictures.
4. &elect the picture files you wish to import.
Tip 3 #o select several picture files which are listed consecutively, click the first filename in the list, and then
while holding the Shift key, click on the last filename in the list. #his will select all the files at once to import.
&imilarly, to select several files that are not in consecutive order, hold the Ctrl key rather than the &hift key
and then click on the different filenames you wish to import.

+efore you proceed any further, you should save your pro>ect. It is a good idea to do this fre$uently
throughout the movie making process.
?rom the main menu, choose (i%e - #ave ,roect.
Windows Movie Maker saves the pro>ect in the file format .M&WMM which allows for editing at a later time.
When your movie is complete, you have additional options for saving the file, so that it may be played in awebpage or emailed, for e"ample. #hese other options do not allow editing, so it is important to save your
working file in the Movie Maker pro>ect format.

Import an e"isting video clip that you have saved previously on your computer. #his video clip will have a file
e"tension of one of the many compatible video file types, such as 'VI,MP/, '&? or WMV, to name a few.#his imported video clip can be added to e"isting still pictures already in your movie pro>ect.

0nce you have chosen to import a video clip in the previous step, you now need to locate the video clip saved
on your computer.
!. =avigate to the folder that contains all the components of your movie.
. -lick on the video file you wish to import. &uch file e"tensions as 'VI, '&?, WMV 0@ MP/ are the
most commonly selected video types for Windows Movie Maker pro>ects, although other file types can
also be used.

4. -heck the bo" to Create clis for "ideo files. Videos are often comprised of many small clips, which
are marked by the creating program when the file is saved. #hese smaller clips are created when the
video process is paused or there is a very obvious change in the filming. #his is helpful to you, as thevideo editor, so that the pro>ect is broken down into smaller, more manageable pieces.
=ot all video files will be broken into smaller clips. #his depends on which file format the originalvideo clip was saved as. -hecking this bo" to create clips for video files, will separate the imported
video clip into smaller clips, if there are obvious pauses or changes in the original video clip. If youchoose not to select this option, the file will be imported in as a single video clip.

0nce the video clip has been added to the storyboard, you should save your new movie as a pro>ect. &aving as
a proect allows for further editing at a later time.

4. In the #ile name te"t bo", type a name for this movie pro>ect. Windows Movie Maker will save the file
with a file e"tension of M&WMM to indicate that this is a ro$ect file and not a completed movie.

0nce you have imported a video clip you may wish to edit it by trimming or deleting e"traneous parts. It is asimple matter to edit the video clip by splitting it into smaller parts.
