College and University Residence Halls (NACURH)• A leadership opportunity• A community service entity• A programming board• A leadership development tool• An advocacy group
What is the History?What is the History?
• NACURH was in need of financial help• Grants were found, but services had to rendered to
member schools• Thus, at the NACURH 1964 Conference hosted by the
University of Denver, NRHH was born• The years following were years of growth and
development as other residence life honoraries were brought into the fold under the NRHH name
• Today NRHH has more than 200 affiliated chapters across the globe

The activities of Chapter vary from campus to campus.
• Induct Members into the Honorary• Campus-wide Programs• Of the Month (OTM) Awards• Leadership Retreats• Community Service Projects• Recognition Programs• Conference Attendance
Membership Membership Requirements…Requirements…
• Chapter– School is affiliated with NACURH, Inc.– Submitted Contact Form, Membership Roster and
Constitution to the NIC
• Members– Must have lived in the halls for at least a year– Must have made a positive contribution to the residence
hall system– Must have at least a 2.0 GPA upon induction– Must be in good standing with the institution

Once a NRHH Member you are a member for Life!!!
• Active– Inducted into an affiliated NRHH Chapter– Resides in residential housing– Has voting rights
• Early Alumni Membership Status (EAMS)– Inducted into an affiliated NRHH Chapter– Can no longer fulfill activity level of chapter– Submitted request to Regional AD-NRHH

• Alumni – Members who have moved off campus or graduated– May still be involved but do not have a vote
• Honorary– Individuals who do not qualify for other membership types
• Includes: housing personnel, instructors, college or university staff, and those who have demonstrated outstanding support and service to the residence hall students
• In some cases: graduating seniors, student who do not meet the GPA requirement, etc.

• Originally formed as separate recognition organizations (for men & women)
• Now affiliated with NACURH & the National Residence Hall Honorary
• Students can be nominated by Community Advisors, Hall Directors, Graduate Hall Directors, and other University Staff
• Induction ceremonies in the Fall & Spring
What is an OTM?• An OTM is a way of giving recognition to a deserving individual(s) that
have worked hard on improving or enhancing a students’ experience in the residence halls.
• This award in general means different things to different entities.
– Campus: Way of recognizing a job well done.
– Regional: Going above and beyond the call of duty; Showcasing exceptional programming with emphasis on educating and enhancing residential communities; and Exemplifying commitment and dedication to a cause.
– National: An Exceptional individual(s) who personify student leadership at its best going above and beyond the call of duty to
improve/enhance residence life across all areas.
What is an OTM? (cont.)• An OTM from a residence hall is supposed to showcase the
best that a residence hall has to give to the campus level• An OTM from the campus level in general should highlight the
best your institution has to offer.– Exceptional Programming– Dedicated Resident Assistants– Passionate Residence Life Staff– Ambitious First Year Students– Driven Students
• An OTM from the regional level puts the regions best foot forward via originality, creativity, storytelling and grammatical expertise.
