What is Pixelation?

Pixelation is an effect caused when viewing an image zoomed in enough to see individual pixels that make up

the image.

How do we avoid pixelation?

Trouble Shooting

• Make sure your camera settings are at a high resolution (there are usually a few different sizes in which you can select from. The higher the # the more pixels)

• Save your files in photoshop on a high resolution

• If you zoom in enough you will see pixels on every photo. Pixels make up the digital image!

Nikon D80 Specs

• High 3872 x 2592• Med 2896 x 1944• Small 1936 x 1296

– Which setting has the most pixels?

– Which setting will enable you to take the most photos?

Resolution for Printing

Printing pictures should be done around 300 DPI

Resolution Chart

• For a 4" x 6" print, the image resolution should be 600 x 800 pixels minimum.• For a 5" x 7" print, the image resolution should be 1536 x 1180 pixels minimum.• For an 8" x 10" print, the image resolution should be 2048 x 1536 pixels

minimum.

Remember: When you crop your picture you are

eliminating some pixels.
