What is the Children’s Charities Foundation?Founded in 1994 by Peter Teeley, former US Ambassador, and a group of Washington-area business and professional leaders, The Children’s Charities Foundation has distributed more than $10.2 million to charities in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area including the District of Columbia; Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties in Maryland; Fairfax and Arlington Counties in Virginia; and the City of Alexandria, Virginia.

There is an acute need to raise money for disadvantaged and at-risk youth of the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. These funds are essential to maintain and support public and private programs and services for children in need. The Children’s Charities Foundation funds non-profit organizations that support disadvantaged and at-risk children by strengthening their health and welfare, supporting strong and cohesive families, and assisting educational and recreational programs.

BB&T Classic is a National college basketball event that has been held annually since 1995. It is Washington, DC’s premier kick off event of the season featuring some of the most well known teams in college basketball history.

The “BasketBALL Gala” is an annual black-tie event attended by representatives of the Classic teams, their coaches, other sports figures, business and community leaders. There is a silent auction and the event features nationally known entertainment.

Coats for Kids – Each year, new winter coats are distributed to needy children throughout the Washington D.C. metro region. The D.C. Children’s Trust Fund has helped CCF to coordinate volunteers and the distribution of new coats to 14,000 children over the past 6 years. CCF will distribute more than 4,000 coats in 2017.
