I think RnB publishers such as InterMedia should publish my magazine because it’s different and has a new approach to creating a music based magazine. My magazine is similar to the magazines they produce and distribute, but I notice a gap in their company which I would like to fill in. Also, they may want to fill in gaps which I may be missing in mine.

Publishers I DO want to publish my magazines.

InterMedia publish magazines such as VIBE.

I want the above editors to publish my magazine because they too distribute some vague RnB magazines which means they can adapt to my magazine. They know RnB magazines inside out, they will be able to tweak my magazine to work out the best way to sell my magazine. I don’t intend publishers who distribute pop, Rock magazines or any other type of magazines to publish my magazine other than RnB and Rock. This is because they tend to work in different ways, my understanding of my magazine will be different to theirs.

Distribution NetworksI intend to sell my magazine to my target audience via newsstands and shops on a large scale. The publishers who I want to publish my magazine use the method sale or return method. This is where all the unsold magazines are returned to the publishers with no extra fees. I think it’s a responsible way of working but also hazardous to the environment. It’s not environmentally friendly as is wastes a lot of paper.

Sale or Return- the system used by magazine and newspaper distributors with newsstands. Any copies of magazines which are not sold, is returned to the base or publishers of the magazine. This does not charge the retailers, in fact benefits him or her. But on the other hand, it does harm the environment as it risks wastage and damages the system

Think about it, each magazine copy will consist of at least 90 pages, and the amount I will be selling are will be in the thousands. That’s a lot of trees!

MethodsDistribution networksThe publishers manage how magazines are released into areas. These can be sold online, newsstands, shops etc. This all relies on the publishers. If magazines are sold online, this means there’s less hassle in physically deporting magazines to places. By doing it online it can be uploaded in a matter of minutes.

Freemiums- direct distribution

This process is increasingly getting more and more popular. It gives a taster to the audience as the magazine publishers give out free issues. This will entice people to buy the magazine when the next issue is released. Areas which they are mostly distributed are near stations and other congested locations.

Method Part 2Subscription- postal / electronic

Magazines offer subscriptions to regular readers of their magazine. This means that they will have a magazine frequently posted to them. By subscribing it means they will buy the magazine with a considerably high discount. If, however they subscribe online, the magazine will be sent to them via customer’s inbox, kindle fire or iPad/tablet.

E-zines

E-zines means ‘Electronic Magazines’. They are virtual versions of the magazines, pages can be flicked via from the click of a button. RWD is a magazine which releases free e-zines of their magazine for free. E-zines have electronic features such as moving advertisements and video clips which can be viewed. This is not available on regular magazines because technology is not that advanced yet. They also have hyperlinks, which can link them to the source e.g. the magazine titles website where they can view other things.

Apps

Many magazines have QR codes at the corner of them, these can be scanned by androids of smartphones which will then link them to the source of the magazine. This will then reveal extra content for the viewer.

Electronic brand extension

This feature helps the magazine get its name out there. It increases its popularity. They do this by extending onto online social networking websites such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Websites like this, information and trends goes viral. Especially because it has millions of people online at the same time.

Electronic Apps…This is an easier way to distribute as it requires less physical work. People can access their copy of the magazine which they buy online in a couple of clicks rather than waiting for days to get it posted to their door. Whoever is going to publish my magazine must a similar target audience, that way we will think in similar ways in terms of ways of attract our target audience. Also my target audience is elder teens to young adults, people of this age are use first hand in technology. Their encounter technology daily, so I think that having my magazine in modern technology devices such as tablets, apps ,andriods will help my magazine reach them quicker and easier.
