From The Principal’s DeskOver 300 students accepted awards at ourrecent Sports and Academic AwardsEvenings. What an end to the year! Thankyou to the parents and other communitymembers who celebrated with them; to thestaff who have coached, tutored, taughtand mentored; and to the studentsthemselves for their efforts in learning and
performing.
At our most recent celebrations we have seen a wonderfulpiece of Indigenous dance, a powerful haka and some of themost sublime expressions of dance, all performed by studentswith pride in their culture, their school and their personalidentity.
I spoke on Awards Night about the need for our students todevelop their ethical and respectful minds in our world. This hasbeen a theme at this school for some years now and I believewe are starting to embrace our collective identity as a school ina much more positive way.
My son has a t-shirt on which is printed the slogan “I amunique…just like everybody else!”
This is an important point to remember. Just as every studenthere is special, so is every other student – for different reasons. But together their collective worth is much greater than the sumof their parts, and the school benefits as a whole.
I would urge all our families and their students to rememberthat as we head into the final month of school for the year. The school, like every other living, breathing organism ororganisation, is only as strong as its weakest part. That weakestpart is definitely not the students. They make us strong.
By the way, if you’d like to let me know what you think ourweakest part is, please drop me line on [email protected] andwe’ll work on it for next year.
Thank you remaining in partnership with us in the education ofyour children.

A group of Year 11 and 12 Tourism students, accompaniedby Mrs Michelle Campbell and Miss Tanya Walsh, recentlyplucked up the courage and climbed the Story Bridge, oneof three Bridge Climbs in the world. While some of us wereinitially nervous, our nerves soon settled when we reached thetop of the bridge and marvelled at the breathtaking views ofBrisbane City. Despite the not-so-flattering jumpsuits, we hadan awesome time and encourage all Tourism students to give ita shot next year.
