What’s New in ARCHIBUS V.21.1
Welcome to ARCHIBUS V.21.1. This document has three sections:
Program and Platform Enhancements
Business Application Enhancements
Add-in Manager Enhancements
Program and Platform Enhancements This section describes the program enhancements in V.21.1 and contains these sub-sections:
ARCHIBUS Mobile
Web Central User Interface Improvements
Platform Enhancements
Smart Client Extension for AutoCAD
Help Systems
ARCHIBUS Mobile Framework
Mobile technology has evolved through three distinct generations. The first generation -- the early mobile
technologies such as Palm OS -- required customized development to suit customer needs. The vendor-centric
technologies of the second generation required that customer apps be redesigned and recoded separately for
Windows CE, Blackberry, and iOS. Now ARCHIBUS is leveraging the third generation of mobile technology --
hybrid mobile -- to deliver a new breed of customer-responsive apps, which you can configure only once and then
deliver immediately to the wide range of mobile devices in use at your facility. With hybrid mobile technology,
ARCHIBUS can deliver these apps without compromising security or device control. And, new HTML5 technology
makes your data -- including photos, campus plans, and floor plans -- interactive, so users can quickly locate space,
people, assets, and tasks.
The ARCHIBUS mobile solution includes:
an initial set of ARCHIBUS Apps for managing space, maintenance, and assets and equipment. For
information, see Space Book Mobile App, Maintenance Mobile App, and Asset & Equipment Survey
Mobile App
the ARCHIBUS Mobile Framework for running mobile apps; this framework is also a platform for
Business Partners and users to personalize the ARCHIBUS Apps and create their own apps
the ARCHIBUS Mobile Client for accessing the ARCHIBUS Mobile Framework and running apps on the
iPad, iPhone, and Android-driven devices
The release also includes the ARCHIBUS Mobile Client for accessing the Mobile Framework and running these
Apps on the iPad, iPhone, and Android-driven devices. The ARCHIBUS Mobile Framework is also a platform for
Business Partners and users to personalize the ARCHIBUS Apps and create their own apps.

Note that you must explicitly enable mobile services. For information, see ARCHIBUS Configuration Options in
System Management Help.
The ARCHIBUS Apps are built on the ARCHIBUS Mobile Framework, which provides a wide range of features
that Business Partners and users can employ to personalize the ARCHIBUS Apps as well as to create their own
apps.
On the Process Navigator, the System Administration / ARCHIBUS System Administration / Mobile Apps Manager
process provides a series of personalization features for System Administrators:
Graphics. The Edit SVG Drawing Publishing Rules task controls how the ARCHIBUS Publish Enterprise
Graphics command creates graphics that appear on mobile devices from your AutoCAD DWG files.
Thematic Highlights and Labels. The Select Space Book Plan Types controls which floor plans appear in
the Space Book and how they are highlighted and labeled. You can use standard ARCHIBUS views to define
the highlights and labels, and you can define those views using the View Definition Wizard.
Fields. The ARCHIBUS Manage Asset & Equipment Surveys console has a Change Fields to Survey feature
that controls which fields appear on the Asset & Equipment Survey form. This feature illustrates how the
ARCHIBUS mobile framework dynamically generates fields from the standard ARCHIBUS data dictionary
information.
The ARCHIBUS Mobile Framework also includes extensive support for Add-in Managers creating their own
applications.
HTML5. The ARCHIBUS Mobile Framework enables Add-in Managers to use HTML5-based techniques to
create mobile apps once, and then run them on a variety of mobile devices. The ARCHIBUS Mobile
Framework and the ARCHIBUS Mobile Client take care of the device-dependent conditions. These features
allow you to work faster, create your apps once, and still deploy them on a wide variety of devices.
SVG. The ARCHIBUS Publish Enterprise Graphics feature now can publish any ARCHIBUS asset type --
from jacks and equipment to rooms or buildings -- to the SVG format that you can display on mobile
devices. The ARCHIBUS Mobile Framework lets you add highlights, labels, events, and actions to these
asset symbols to provide the interactivity your applications need to display and edit information intuitively.
Synchronization. The framework provides synchronization features that hide all of the complex details of
synchronizing data between Web Central and your mobile devices and of working off-line in a semi-
connected mode.
Documents and Images. The synchronization features can transfer not only data but also documents, such
as equipment manuals, and images, such as photographs of building conditions.
Workflow. The framework can call all of the existing ARCHIBUS business logic and workflows from your
mobile apps, meaning that you can reuse -- rather than reinvent -- all of the ARCHIBUS application
functionality for mobile.
Forms. You can alter any of the ARCHIBUS app forms or create your own.
Apps. The framework allows you to add your own applications to the ARCHIBUS app launcher page.
For more information on the mobile framework, see the overview in the System Management documentation at:
http://www.archibus.com/ai/abizfiles/v21.1_help/system_management_help/afm-

Web Central User Interface Improvements
Sign In Form
V.21.1's newer, cleaner look begins right on the Sign In form.
Process Navigator
The Process Navigator also has a new look:
User Drop Down
V.21.1 simplifies the main command menu. Beneath the user name, V.21.1 has additional options and information,
such as the project name and current user's role.

View Search Feature
A new search control will find views containing the word or phrase you enter. Selecting the view then loads it.
The search will not return views which are not licensed nor assigned to your user account.
Auto-complete Feature
All edit form fields and most filter fields now feature auto-complete: if you start typing in a validated field, the drop-
down list will show you the possible values beginning with those letters.
Hierarchical fields such as Region Code respect the value entered in Country Code. However, if you leave Country
Code blank, as shown above, the Region Code will show all combinations of Country and Region. Selecting a
Region fills in both the Country and Region values in one step.
Typing "?" calls up the full list, without all the information that might display by accessing the complete Select
Values dialog. Should you need to filter by another field or sort results, you can use the "..." button to call up the full
Select Values dialog, the same as in V.20.2. The auto-complete list obeys the Virtual Private ARCHIBUS
restriction. The Smart Search feature and application views that have added their own personalized Select Values
dialog do not support auto-complete lists.
Simpler Grids
Grids have a cleaner look. Headers and footers no longer scroll, leaving them always visible even if the data is too
long for the screen.
What's New in ARCHIBUS V.21.1
ARCHIBUS, Inc. Confidential 6/12/2013 Page 5 of 14 Whats New in V_21_1 r3.docx
Simpler Forms
V.21.1 simplifies the form layouts, primarily by hiding all field controls -- Select Values, date entry, and so on --
until you enter that field. The result is a cleaner, easier look even for complex forms.
Simpler Onscreen Reports
V.21.1 likewise simplifies the look of all onscreen reports by hiding controls for non-edit fields.
Enhanced Drawing Control
V.21.1 updates the Flash-based drawing control, adding a click-
drag-release action for quick panning, windowed selection for
quickly assigning entire groups of rooms or assets, as well as
support for new types of forms, including drag-and-drop
employee placement and forms that work with multiple asset
types simultaneously.

Platform Enhancements
V.21.1 adds these supported environments:
WebLogic 12c
Internet Explorer 10. On Windows 7 and the Windows 8 desktop.
Windows 8 Desktop. Web Central and the Smart Client work on Windows 8 Desktop. Note that due to the
Flash limitations of Windows Metro, Flash-based views do not load under the Windows Metro interface;
instead, use the Windows 8 Desktop interface.
Smart Client Extension for AutoCAD
The standard publishing rules now include an SVG output type and publish drawings to SVG. These drawings are
then available for display on mobile devices and for HTML5-compliant browsers without requiring a plugin, that is
to say, without requiring the Adobe Flash plugin.
ARCHIBUS Help Systems
When you access ARCHIBUS Help or ARCHIBUS System Management Help from the ARCHIBUS programs, you
now receive the latest versions of these help systems as stored on archibus.com. Sites that need locally installed
versions of the help systems can manually install the help systems from the ARCHIBUS DVD.
Additionally, ARCHIBUS Help and System Management Help are now take advantage of HTML5 output, which
provides a more modern look, frameless output for faster searches, Google-like search results, and specific page
addresses for better link-sharing.

Business Application Enhancements
Preventive Maintenance
The Preventive Maintenance work order generation routine has been optimized for better performance. Preliminary
testing shows an 80% improvement over the previous version in the time it takes run work order generation.
In addition, Preventive Maintenance allows the Maintenance Manager to copy PM Schedules so that they may
accommodate seasonal PMs by having the same equipment-procedure combination defined multiple times, each for
a different start date. See:
"Defining Seasonal Tasks" section of help topic: Building Operations / Preventive Maintenance /
Maintenance Manager / Defining PM Schedules
Building Operations / Preventive Maintenance / Maintenance Manager / Define PM Schedules task
Space Inventory & Performance
The application now accounts for any pending workspace transactions when a user either directly changes a room
attribute or employee location, or imports room or employee information through data transfer. This ensures
imported or changed data does not conflict with future requests.
Asset Portal
This application now includes:
Additional background tasks for defining locations and organizations. See these processes on the Process
Navigator:
Asset Management / Asset Portal / Background Data / Define Locations
Asset Management / Asset Portal / Background Data / Define Organizations

Environmental Health & Safety
The application now automatically calculates total days of lost work and duration of work restrictions for
employees based on the incident or work restriction dates. See "Duration Days" in Track Employee Work
Restrictions.
The form presented by the EH&S/Track/Track Incidents task more clearly helps users categorize types of
restrictions, including clear distinction between days away from work vs. days remaining at work but on
restriction versus other cases. See "Restriction Classification" in Track Employee Work Restrictions.
New United States OSHA Form 300 and Form 300A reports included out of the box. See:
OSHA Form 300
OSHA Form 300A
On the Process Navigator: Environmental & Risk/EH&S/Management Reports/Incidents Log
The application now tracks both scheduled and actual hours of training, including a new report found on the
Process Navigator at EH&S/Operational Reports/Training Programs Hours.

cost indexes, such as the Consumer Price Index. For information, see the following help topic and Process
Navigator task:
o Real Estate Portfolio Management/Cost Administration/General Staff/Lease Indexing /Overview
o Real Estate Portfolio Management / Cost Administration /Cost Administrator / Lease Cost Profile
Common Area Maintenance (CAM) Reconciliation - Lease CAM Profile tab
The application calculates annual Common Area Maintenance (CAM) estimated costs paid by tenants, and
enables you to enter CAM adjustments that reconcile these estimates with the annual actual costs the
landlord incurred. You can analyze CAM cost performance using the Lease CAM Reconciliation report over
the life of the lease. If tenants require a detailed accounting of CAM costs, you can generate the CAM Cash
Flow report. For more information, the following help topic and Process Navigator task:

Add-in Manager Enhancements
The Add-in Manager responsible for personalizing ARCHIBUS for the specific needs of your site can use the
following enhancements.
Personalization Features
V.21.1 includes these features for those personalizing their version of ARCHIBUS.
PDF Drawing Printing
You can now output your drawings to PDF, including title blocks, searchable text, scale, North Arrows, and
dynamic text. It provides the ability to run as easily on one drawing as on 1,000 drawings.
Easier User Interface Skinning
The color scheme, fonts, and view type styles are defined in LESS files. LESS is a style-sheet language that extends,
and is compiled into, CSS. It provides the ability to define reusable variables and classes that makes color scheme
customization very easy. See http://www.archibus.com/ai/abizfiles/v21.1_help/system_management_help/afm-
