Over the decades Australian artists have collaborated with weavers and tapestry workshops in France, Portugal and since 1976, the Australian Tapestry Workshop.Artists include Richard Larter, Janet Laurence, Ginger Riley Munduwalawala, Nell, David Noonan, John Olsen, William Robinson, Gareth Sansom, Luke Sciberras, Arlene Textaqueen and John Woseley. This exhibition is being developed with Australian Tapestry Workshop and will feature tapestries from public and private collections across Australia. A BRAG exhibition curated by Emma Collerton.HEATHER DUNN: PALETTE OF PLACEFor Bathurst based textile artist Heather Dunn, location – place – is important. Palette of Place showcases tapestries inspired by the landscape and colours of Hill End. Using dyes created from local organic materials, Dunn’s tapestries comprise rich ochres, wattle yellow and subtle shades of green. Their designs, drawn en plein air, reflect broad elements of the landscape, allowing the palette of the place to become the heroes of the composition. A BRAG Hill End AIR exhibition.

CAMIE LYONS: A PHYSICAL RESPONSE In 2018 Camie Lyons participated in the Hill End Artists in Residence Program. Taking inspiration from the lives of Hill End’s gold rush era inhabitants, Lyons threw herself into physical making: dragging branches back the Haefligers' studio, digging clay, and mark making with sticks, stones and found ochers. The resulting work is the beginning of a new-found language for the artist, a rich seam of ‘gold’ which will inform her practice for many years to come. A BRAG Hill End Artist in Residence exhibition.

SASSY PARK: LOOKING FOR GOLDSydney based artist Sassy Park undertook a Hill End Artist in Residency in May 2019, where she was struck with gold fever. With the help of a local guide, Park found a gold nugget on her first panning trip to Tambaroora Creek. The search for gold shapes much of the history of Hill End. The ‘Holtermann Nugget’ – the largest mass of gold ever found – was discovered in the area in 1872. With the fortune he made from it Bernhardt Holtermann commissioned a photographic record of the people of Hill End. Using the Holtermann Collection as a reference point, Park has created a series of ceramics responding to hertime at Hill End. A BRAG Hill End Artist in Residence exhibition.
