Museum of London Docklands welcomes a new commission, launching with an evening of sonic entertainment at Late London in September, inspired by our art exhibition Bridge. Over at Museum of London, we’ve gone Sherlock-mad! Our major exhibition Sherlock Holmes opens in October with an action-packed Late London to celebrate and your chance to create your own detective cocktails. At the archive, get festive with a food and drink inspired tour and find out what lies beneath London’s famous buildings.

Sherlock Holmes17 Oct 2014 – 12 Apr 2015

Celebrate one of the most famous fictional Londoners of all time, in the first major temporary exhibition of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes in London for over 60 years. Through a combination of film, objects, paintings, photographs, manuscripts and the earliest documentary footage of London, discover Holmes’s unique relationship with London and how he has been reimagined for generation after generation, continuing to enthral audiences worldwide today.

BridgeUntil 2 Nov

A major visual art exhibition focusing on London’s bridges. Prompted by the 120-year anniversary of arguably the world’s most famous bridge – Tower Bridge – and Thomas Heatherwick’s ‘Garden Bridge’ proposals, the exhibition considers the significance of bridges within London’s identity and the way in which people move around and experience the city.

Bridging the World by Scanner6 Sep – 2 Nov

International artist Scanner presents a new sound installation, specially commissioned as part of the Bridge exhibition. From London to New York City, Shanghai to Sao Paulo, names of iconic and forgotten bridges create a world travelogue to inhabit and enliven the museum.

Commissioned by the Mayor of London to draw London 2012, artist Nicholas Garland created a unique, intimate and evocative record of those extraordinary weeks. His brief was wide: he was told simply to ‘go to the Games and draw them’.

Admission Please note, our archaeological archive is only open for pre-booked events.
